And I can assure you that he receives no 'perks' directly or indirectly in terms of access to studio people for things such as Insider news, pre-announcement rumors, etc. What he sees he will report on....in detail, and let the chips fall where they may. He may not know the *answer* to all peoples' questions in that thread but he will not avoid them nor gloss over them with generalizations and semantic spin. Unlike other reviewers on the net over the course of years, I have seen no evidence to suggest he *soft-balls* the Burbank studios' Blu-ray releases. I’ve been alerted to the fact that some “rush job” review(s) for LOTR EE have appeared on the internet on some websites that take in a proportion of the Blu-ray sale - if you order through them. If this is true….I ask why? because I hadn’t thought that the item is shipping yet and if it has….are consumers thinking that if they order right now, they can lock-in some great pre-order price? Why not do a thorough review…still in plenty of time before the item ships from your favorite Blu-ray retailer. Am I missing something here? ![]() I hope the reviewers don’t do that with ‘Lawrence’…i.e. not watch the whole Blu-ray movie……red sand and all. ^doctorossi, I kid…I kid. Feels like I've been reading thedigitbits website for 12hrs straight with the black backdrop! I like that test though, very neat! Edit: Not sure if this is good, but I scored an 8. Now where's the vicodin? Last edited by rickah88; 06-17-2011 at 12:23 AM. |

Nicely done Ken. ![]() A good point is brought up in the review. Peter Jackson has always stated that the EEs are not the directors cut (theatrical Ed.) but a supplemental piece. If that is the case can we really expect them not to be altered? Personally, I would prefer that the original timing not be changed. It changes the context of the piece at a emotional level. Adding or removing content is acceptable, again because this is an alternative piece by nature. Will this stop me from buy this edition,.......probably not. But it does give me pause. This really brings us back to an old debate. When directors revisit their work, what are acceptable changes? Where is the line drawn? I have my opinions on this topic. But am also interested in what everyone else here thinks about the subject. |

I expect we're going to have to see a statement from one or both of them soon. Last edited by Doctorossi; 06-17-2011 at 02:16 PM. |

I bet you did! Although Boston was one of the original six and a lot of hockey fans were pulling for them, despite their country of origin. My horse wasn't in the race and I was just hoping for a good series and we certainly got that!

On that note, it seems like we are overdue for a good disc exchange program...it's been awhile ![]() |

If circulated around the studio, for that matter, ANY studio for any movie, I can not tell you how much your statement just induced heartburn and/or diarrhea in just about every customer service employee sitting in their cubicle at work right now.

Oddly enough I'm hoping that you are right that it is a processing failure, and not a colour timing change. Wow, can't that believing I'm saying this. In such a case there is the possibility of corrective action. |

My guess is that a lot of the heartburn and cost could be mitigated by simply injecting an enduser into the approval process. Too many times have I seen video releases that are botched because someone - who wasn't intimately familiar with the film - said it was ready for print. I'm not sure what the cost would be, but to pay to have one fanboy review the release prior to going to print shouldn't be nearly as much as a wide scale exchange program. The fanboy, while overly critical, would point out said variance and allow the studio to either correct or address them prior to release. That seems the best way to deal with this nasty business of capture comparisons.

I have to give credit to the studios for doing disc exchange programs. In the past that would not have been done. You would just have to repurchase the product, if the issue got corrected in the next release. It shows that they care about the their products. |

Boy was it ever a good series. I think the game changer was the hit on Horton. That amp'd up Boston, and Vancouver lost control of the series after.

I think half the Cup should go to Philly...after making history last season by beating Boston when down 3 game to none, it totally fired them up! ![]() |

99.9999% of these fanboys wouldn't know a proper master if it bit them on the ass. That being said, there have been titles where the QC departments noted issues with a master, but the studio over ruled them and said it was fine, only to be bitten on the butt in the end. fitprod |
