In real life (off the forum) the person whom he most reminds me of, whom many of you people may know as a character in a popular TV series is ‘coach’ from Friday Night Lights. Paid is quiet, driven, has the focus of my coyotes as to accomplishing a task with 100% efficiency and is the quintessential family man.

I’m not at liberty to tell you who exactly he reports to but, he is one of the most valued Senior VPs at SPHE. I can tell you that we recently shared the same house painter ….who performed great work for both of us. Sooo, if you live in SoCal, I can give you a great recommendation as we've both gone thru our share of painters ....painfully.
Finally, we stumbled upon a gem.

I see you’ve changed your avatar . I hope you like the carbon fiber looking suit Spidey wears in the upcoming motion picture. Kinda reminds me of high end bicycle parts.

Anyway, if you plan on taking a road trip this summer, and need some reading material, I recommend this book to you (and anyone else for that matter) as I’m finding it a good read....us "thugs from Culver City" do read, you know.

In fact, if any of my fellow brothers are reading, I was (like that depicted in the motion picture….but riding a dirt bike, namely a DT-1 with full knobbies and a girl on the back holding onto my waist with a death-grip) who rode up the staircase (to the "private room") during one of our more notorious parties…..and blasted everyone’s ear drums out as I was equipped with a Hooker Header at the time rather than a stock pipe.

Then I went to grad school and got serious…..and met the boss of the Penton house.

P.S.
Dang it . I may well be disappointed as I am a stickler for real detail….. https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/Anima.../16762/#Review

Good to hear you used to let loose back in the day.

This film from John Landis, to put it bluntly, is unforgettable. Any film fan would be able to quote a line, or describe a scene, from memory.
If someone were to ask me how many times I've watch it, honestly I would not be able to give a definitive answer. How many times has the sun risen?

Even though the image is not up to Sony standards Penton, it's still worth a watch. Actually the gritty presentation in some ways does compliment the subject matter film. If that's possible.

So I say relive youth through this film.

Nice, but I'm more of a Marvel guy myself (although I'm looking forward to The Dark Knight Rises). Plus, I'm reading a book for a summer assignment (gotta love high school).

Well, keep it in mind for maybe a future read….as he did write for Marvel and you can search the Index using Amazon’s freebie look-inside-the-book feature to see if anything in particular tickles your fancy.

I’ve thought of a solution . Purchase of bunch of brewskis to hoist throughout the flick and have my wife dress up as a cheerleader (with a short skirt) and watch the Blu-ray movie with me, all the while whispering sweet things in my ears during the *romantic* scenes of the movie.…….plus, move most of the unnecessary furniture out from the room and CRANK up the volume of my sound system when this song plays and dance Kaaa-ray-zee with her….

P.S.
Come to think of it. Better yet, I think I’ll rent a keg and also invite over a few of my friends whom I think may also have lived on the wild side during their undergrad days…. might as well make it an event as long as our maid service can make it over to our house the next day.

Penton man what do you think of apple dropping optical disks? Should us film collectors be worried? It is things like this that make it crucial that playstation 4 should support bluray.

One of the benefits to remaining completely anonymous…at least to 99.9% of you guys. Truth be told, I thought that for most folks, my first post on the matter was waaay TMI, esp. the links to the Content and Communications conference in N.Y.C. and the preliminary program of The Reel Thing in L.A., as they required much more concentrated effort and thought to appreciate or process, namely the one containing these outside links - https://forum.blu-ray.com/insider-di...ml#post5020939

Your Exorcist revelation creeps me out a little, but I guess different strokes for different folks….at least you two are on the same wavelength unlike this couple with their role playing -

All this costume talk reminds me of something.....wait a moment and see my next post.

After posting the above a few days ago, I received a plethora of PMs asking me what I thought was the most visionary thing that happened at the recent Comic-Con in San Diego. That’s an easy one. It was local law enforcement stepping in by taking matters into their own hands, so to speak, in regards to an issue of serious public health concern, i.e. preventing “an onslaught of fan boy heart attacks”. Although, I think the incident should not have been reported with such narrow qualification as, I, for one, think the reporter should have expanded the susceptible population to security guards, personnel working the booths, some fan girls, etc.

You mean the probably true rumors that any future super thin Apple laptops will not sport built-in optical drives? Well, I don’t like it but, I don’t worry about it and Apple, given its status….http://www.itp.net/585623-apple-has-...-us-government seems to think it can do whatever it desires to do, whenever it wants to.

That reminds me. When I get the time, I’ll make another Book Club recommendation as I’m giving Oprah a run for her money now that I’ve given a thumbs-up to one book already.

I just hope i am not scraping around Internet sites to buy refurbished bluray players just to continue watching my back catalogue several years from now. I hate the direction the industry seems to be going. I have stated my opinions several times in different forums and threads and i have been accused of being paranoid and crazy. However, i believe that we will struggle to even have a HD source (as in true HD) in the future. IPTV will try to replace cable companies and substitute good HD for near dvd quality. The nice big tvs on sale now will be pointless because we will be watching sub-standard rubbish that has around five percent of the detail of a bluray. People state that streaming is just a part of their home cinema but believe me, the industry, in my opinion, will try to take over with this technology and quality will be forgot. I thought we (home cinema fans) were past the stage of worrying about noticeable compression artifacts. It would appear not.

It's just Apple trying to expand their monopoly of iTunes.

The studios (and that includes Sony, Penton) should put their foot down, especially since Apple wiill not support the UltraViolet system that all the studios (save Disney) do.

Apple is not always perfect in judging what the consumer wants. They were correct with getting rid of the floppy drive (although I still have one in my custom built computer), they guessed wrong on the 1334 fireware which lost out to USB 3.0. They also had many unique component interfaces (mouse, keyboard, monitor) which they finally standardized to a PC interface. Also they went from PowerPC to an Intel design which closely mirrors a standard PC design.

Apple is good in judging consumer demand for new products such as the iPhone, iPod etc. Sony used to be the innovator with devices such as Walkman and Triniton TVs, they seemed to be leading the way with SXRD rear projection TVs, but sadly due to bad engineering they created many defective units.

I recently bought a Sony TV internet connected TV plus a Sony internet connected blu-ray player and I have to commend Sony with the excellent user interface along with many internet choices. The Sony PS3 was also way ahead of it's time with a design that that I consider outstanding in terms of user interface and expandability of it's features.

I hope Sony looks at Apple and realizes that the best way to maintain its leadership it through innovation.

Apple doesn't innovate. They take existing equipment and polish it. To believe that you''d have to pretend there weren't MP3 players, smart phones, and tablets before Apple introduced their "i" versions.

Sony actually comes up with new products.

What new successful products has Sony come up with lately? (Blu-ray was a joint effort that Sony did play a large part in). If you ask a consumer I will be surprised if the associate Sony with any new innovations.

Apple on the other hand is great at making a product into a success with marketing and adding features that the public wants. On a personal note I do not currently own any Apple products because I feel they are overpriced and they are a closed system that restricts what I can do with the item. However, many people like an Apple product because it is a closed system which Apple can maintain tight control over and because it has a user interface they like. Many consumers are willing to price for the status of owning an Apple product. Many years ago Sony enjoyed this premium status, bet unfortunately not any more.
