Was a time for me to get away (as far as possible) from everything even remotely associated with work, ergo -

Thursday – FAMILY feast and associated conversation, play football (with family, during which it was personally pitiful when my niece could out-run me on a simple post pattern ) and subsequently play FOOTball (with family, most of whom can only kick with one foot…payback is sweeet ).

Friday – Saturday - I took a little 2-day ride (with a couple of my in-laws) to Vegas, where my family (already in great spirits from having done exceedingly well at the casino) was waiting for us since they had taken a quicker, less demanding alternative route (they drove the Interstate )…we rode -

That ride looks like fun Penton. What type of bike were you riding? I sold my GS1200R last year and miss it. But with the new kid and crazy travel schedule, I just don't get to ride it.

lol, Kris I was just bemoaning your absence on another thread we have here on the forum.

Anyway, in consideration of the possibility that the entrant list for the event someday may be posted online in the future and given the possibility of cross-referencing by some astute members….for me to maintain my anonymity , without getting specific as to make and model, let’s just say that it is a pure racing dirt bike (actually my in-law’s spare bike) which has been converted into a dual purpose motorcycle (by making it street legal with lights, mirrors, spark arrestor and out-of-state tags, etc.) as the conversion jobs are essentially stock racing machines with just a little fluff added on in weight as compared to most of the heavier dual purpose machines sold these days.

In short, there is much better performance using a pure-bred racing bike, at least with me aboard, even in a non-competitive event like this as I never bottomed out and the acceleration saved my butt more than once when I made a few mental errors.

No worries Penton. I was more interested in whether you were using a dirt bike that was modified to be street legal or one of the bigger bikes like my old GS. The pictures on the site you linked looked like something that would demand a more stripped down approach.

Would love to go to the F65 seminar but won't be in the area anytime soon that I'm aware of. I frequent San Diego occasionally, but nothing on the schedule soon. Only Kingsland Georgia and Ketchikan Alaska coming up, yeah.

Later, when not so busy, I’ll delve into one, perhaps unrecognized by many producers, reason why the post production of a 4k DI (versus that of a 2k DI) these days is not quite as expensive as in the past, all things considered….at least for some types of motion pictures. It gets a little technical.

Especially as regards this particular subject, as Senna was a well-known motorcycle enthusiast, if not competitor, as well. I don't know if the documentary touches on that.

One of my favorite sayings. Steve McQueen was one of a kind.

There is nothing like racing, be it 2 or 4 wheel.
The sensation just can't be explained to anyone. It's one of those things that you have experience to understand it.

Try to get the German engineered cart out on the track every year. Way to much fun not too.

Shark wants us to hit the track in Vegas for his Bday next. That should be fun.

The disc will not be visually stunning, as most of the footage is video from the 80's. But I think the subject is what will interest you.


PS. Forgot to add, the Quote was from "Le Mans". Got it on Blu day one. Don't even ask how may times I've seen the film.

I bought the UK release as well and watched it a few weeks ago. Amazing doc. With all the drama on display it is absolutely amazing that this hasn't been adapted into a feature film. Seems like a complete no brainer to me. And yes, there were more than a few tears in my eyes by the end.

Anyhoo, P, finally saw HUGO yesterday - the film's kind of a mess, but you forgive all for letting Marty play in his sandbox. I thought the 3D excellent. Also saw the SW 3D trailer, and thought it looked... good. Hard to tell with so many shots, but to see it at all on the big screen (yeah, even TPM) will be a treat. It's certainly going to be a "why is this in 3D" from loads of people complaining that not every image grabs you by your throat.

Saw a sneak tonight of SHAME, which you should check out. If you missed HUNGER, it's out on Criterion, and that's a pretty amazing film from UK.

Oh, and the director? Steve McQueen.

I can appreciate the fact that some folks might find the ‘history lesson’ aspect of the motion picture to be rather tedious and perhaps needlessly adding to the length of the later part of the motion picture but, it really didn’t bother me.

As an aside, for there is a canine (a dobe) in Hugo, as I mentioned in my review discussing mostly the technical nature of the 3D, I snapped a few pics today of one of Maya’s kids, now a robust 3 year-old (whenever ‘tourists’ in the wild see him, the local authorities are inundated with “mountain lion” sightings).

I’ll post one of the better pics in time. Deci, in that regard, contact me (e-mail) as to making it a seamless pictorial presentation for the membership.
