“It kinda makes me wish my television had a ‘retina display’” < I think she means 4K Blu-ray .

I would say Apple's model for streaming movies via iTunes has more to do with competing with Netflix or Vudu than Blu-ray. I just don't see any reason to think Apple is gunning for Blu-ray right now and more than any other content provider out there that offers movies via streaming or downloading. Where are the attacks on Amazon?

Sure Apple doesn't let you use iTunes to watch Blu-ray movies or offer Blu-ray drives on their devices, but who cares?! I don't think Blu-ray benefits much from small displays anyways and last time I looked Apple isn't making big screen TVs. Now if the rumored iTV comes out at some point and has some magic chip in it that completely prohibits the playback of Blu-rays on it, you are on to something.

This is BS. I don't see Sony letting you play their PS3 games on other consoles? That last sentence is about as ridiculous as yours. Wow, Apple wants to have an entertainment infrastructure to keep you coming back to them. Imagine that. Next thing you know McDonalds is going to say its okay for BK to sell the Big Mac because that's what customers want.

Hold on a sec...that post makes, entirely, too much sense for this recent string of posts. Are you sure you want to stick with that?

Don't get me started. Right now I'm pissed that Dairy Queen won't let Wendy's sell their Blizzards because there's a Wendy's closer to me and I'm too lazy to drive my car to DQ.

Gee, how could I know? The same reason I know you use a remote control instead of getting off your ass and manually changing the channel(although I haven't actually asked every single person who owns a TV if they prefer a remote).

Downloading a game like Modern Warfare 3 takes *forever* on the average broadband connection. You're saying it's more convenient than popping in a DVD-ROM?

As far as pleasing customers: Twilight outgrossed Hurt Locker by a huge margin. Are you going to say the Twilight filmmakers did a better job?

In any case, it always seems that the iProduct faithful are eager to get rid of their devices when a new one comes out. If it's so pleasing, why not keep it more than a year?
Um, yes, I do think they did a "better" job. Why else do you think more people wanted to see it(even though I personally didn't). Also, we buy the new one(if we can afford it) because they usually continue to better than the previous one.

Kind of an "apples & oranges" argument there. You might be better served saying something like:
Some games you can only get via download, at least initially. Or the ever shriking computer game secion in Best Buy might be an indicator.
As for me, I like having my PC games on hand... I guess I'm old fashioned.

Posts that start with 'most people' really bug me. Especially when they are not true in my opinion.

A "small" display? 27" or 30" from a couple feet is bigger than watching large HDTVs from the normal recommended viewing distance. Apple has the gall to call it a "Cinema Display" but actively shuns Blu-ray?

But they don't prevent others from making their games for other consoles (unlike Nintendo in the '90s).

And nobody thinks the PS3 or 360 are "standards".

Yikes. Defending the sheep mentality.

Incremental improvements. There's a cost to benefit ratio that you're forgetting. The cult is conditioned to buy the latest and greatest, even when there is no benefit.

You're forgetting Apple Records sued Apple Computer over trademark infringement.

"sheep mentality"-false premise. Assuming people aren't genuinely more interested in that material.
"incremental improvements"-irrelevant. Many consumer electronics are that way.
"cost to benefit ratio that you're forgetting"-another false premise. Assuming people are unaware of the ratio(and couldn't possibly decide it's worth it anyway).
"cult is conditioned"-more false premises. Assuming all are mindless zombies or brainwashed dolts(it couldn't possibly be because they're very satisfied customers).
It's always the same old story. Whomever is currently on top(insert product here) is merely preying on the unwashed masses through slick marketing, herd mentality, fan-boys, etc. It's NEVER because they're better than the competition at giving people what they've wanted. If only those naive fools(customers) could evolve to our level, they'd have the veil of deception pulled back and see the truth. Thankfully, we're here to enlighten all those(Apple, etc.) fans. They then could be free to choose product B over there. Of course, all the people that use product B never suffer from being in a conditioned cult.

"Very satisfied customers" don't immediately upgrade their device.

It's Tickle Me Elmo & Cabbage Patch Kids again.

You see those shoe riots recently? Want to pretend those are the best shoes? Or perhaps it's a STATUS SYMBOL. Same thing with the iPhone/iPad.
