Yep, aside from some foods, my tastes aren't very Southern like, and that includes NASCAR I'm pleased to say. If I want to watch vehicles go at excessive speeds on my TV, I will tune into movies like "Bullitt", the Fast & The Furious films, or if I had them, "Le Mans", "Grand Prix", etc. Of course, if I wanted to see them in real life, I could just look out my window ( ).

Many young people blindly follow fashions and whatever their peers do. Makes me realize i was always different from a early age. (no funny comments!) You know what? I could not be happier about that.

Penton Man, is there any further developments with 4k bluray please? Also, do you know if there is any likelihood of a new Sony 3d visor being released this year?

thanks

Truth should not be misconstrued as an insult. You are a textbook Concern Troll, that's a fact based on your posting history.
Now if you want to change that fact, again, post some quantifiable evidence supporting your doomsday claims. As typical, I'm sure I'll be waiting a very long time to see such information. In the meanwhile I'll be right here, waiting on you.
Best of luck sir, in your tedious search.

So prior to blu-ray you never collected dvd? Everyone was doing that. If you did, by your logic that would make you a "blind follower". Just sayin'
If not, wow you're such a Maverick! (Edit: you & Peter both)

As a film fan, i collected dvds because they were films on disc, with progressive technology that afforded me much better quality at that time. Nothing to do with trends and fashion. I could not care less (which is the correct term, not 'could care less' by the way) what other people were watching. As long as technology is progressive, i will be watching. Regardless of others.

I like to be different though. Nothing wrong with that. That includes defending myself on certain views and sticking by them. Regardless of (in my opinion) insults and childish comments, whoever makes them. Not adding anything else to this argument. More concerned about 4k bluray and the latest 3d tech along with bluray titles on the horizon.

Of course some people buy things because they're fashionable. You know what they don't do? Get together with a couple-hundred-million of their friends and all buy something that costs between $500 and $2,500 because it's fashionable and then proceed to rate it incredibly highly in customer satisfaction despite their not liking it because it's fashionable and then proceed to buy another one that they don't need and also don't like because it's fashionable.

Next time you question my responses, look at the claims I'm responding to. I'm sure there are people who've bought an iPad or an iPhone only because they heard they were "cool". There aren't 200 million of them. And they don't line up to buy more of them after they end up not liking them. And they don't report their stunningly high customer satisfaction after they end up not liking them.
But the problem is, on this point, you are clearly wrong. No offense, but millions of people do buy any manner of items, no matter the cost, because they are cool or a status symbol. And they rate them very highly because they are supposed to like them and are told they are the best or cool. Now, I don't agree with anyone here in totality, but you are being naive, or disingenuous, in this case.

You are making it sound as if the big ticket purchases are somehow immune to this psychological behavior. If anything, they are more likely to cause this behavior because they need more justification. Think of all the people wearing $200 jeans. I would say this, in terms of cost/benefit ratio, is a more expensive purchase than an iPhone and there are certainly more people buying expensive jeans than iPhones, and tell me this is simply because they are great jeans that are made very well and are comfortable.

No, buddy. You're way beyond deluded if you think the sales and satisfaction numbers the iPhone and iPad are achieving can be explained by the fashion-conscious behaviors of people who don't actually like the products.

You really think there are 100-200 million people out there who don't like the product they've spent thousands of dollars on, but aren't telling anyone (and are, in fact, saying the opposite) for fear of being perceived as unfashionable?!

I suppose I could imagine a handful of people doing something that insane, but we're talking about millions and millions of people!

How the hell would these products stay "fashionable" and "cool" if no one actually likes them?!

There's an explanation that's 1,000 times simpler: people actually do like them.

I'm also very interested to see the explanation of the "fashionable" theorists for the iPhone and iPad's usage data. If no one actually likes these products, why are they using them more often and exchanging more data with them than any other products? If you don't like to use it, but need to be seen with it, wouldn't it be a lot easier to just pretend to use it?

You have the audacity to be overwhelmingly rude and write off people's arguments while positing your own that are just as ignorant.
Nowhere did I state everyone feels this way, so apparently "your comprehension is lacking". You need to chill out and stop attacking people. How about that? And for you to think only a "small handful of people" are affected by this type of behavior you are not up on people's habits, even though you like to think you are.

For the record, I own an iPhone, I like it and it is my 2nd iPhone. So, see how it is when we make assumptions, buddy?

You rebutted my response to another poster who said exactly that, so maybe you need to check your own comprehension before jumping in and saying other people are wrong.

I'd have to start first.

Did you dislike your first iPhone, but buy your 2nd because you wanted to be seen using it?

I used "quotation marks" to denote I was quoting someone. You must have missed that. And, please don't try to pretend you are not attacking people...your "hey, buddy" and "way beyond deluded" are attacks, don't pretend you're on the high road.

And, as for your last comment, it is the perfect example of why there is no reason to ever comment on anything you write again. You are just as unreasonable as Peter, etc. and you refuse to accept it just as they do. You can't have it both ways. You can't re-word people's arguments to benefit yourself and complain that people are unreasonable in their arguments when you are doing the same thing. I clearly did not say everyone feels that way; I even stated it plainly. I also clearly stated I "liked" my iPhone. Why does this have to mean there isn't a segment of people who have to have the iPhone simply because it is the iPhone? I know these people, and if you could be unbiased for a moment, you know them too. Not that I am saying you are one of them.

You didn't indicate or contextualize the "quote" in any way, so I'm not sure what I'm supposed to make of it (nor do I see the relevance of whether or not you were quoting someone).

I'm not sure what to tell you here. No attack was intended.

You don't get it. You did say everyone feels that way because Peter said everyone feels that way and it was my refutation of that point which you, in turn, refuted. If you don't understand the point I'm rebutting, please don't rebut my rebuttal.

Here's how it went:

Peter: Everyone feels that way.

Doctorossi: Peter, what you say is incorrect.

Truewitt: Doctorossi, what you say is incorrect.

By refuting my refutation of Peter, you are, in effect, agreeing with Peter's assertion.

Doc, I think you’ve just outdone Anthony with that comment. I do believe that in another life perhaps a lot of you guys would have given shivers to fellow trial lawyers, if they had to face ya’ll.

Funny quote from the past Tech Retreat…

The iPad is becoming an increasingly important tool in production, perhaps “more popular than the craft service truck.”

I think that particular sector of demand is going to explode with the retina-display iPad 3.
