The animation lines are so chunky and the color palette is so bold. I imagine the Blu-ray will not be a vast improvement over an upscaled DVD on a screen under 50".

I'm watching it on Netflix in 1080P, and it looks excellent, far better than an upscaled DVD version. It's an HD production so this isn't surprising. The art style is more like a comic book at times, but that doesn't hinder the HD presentation at all.

I want to check out this show and for the relatively cheap price, I'll have to get it.

Bah!!! No offense, but why would you do a thing like that? Granted it unexpectedly worked out with the pending BD release, but I would never sell off any DVDs of content not available on Blu-Ray just because a streaming service has it in HD. I can understand opting to watch it in HD on Netflix while available, but things get pulled off of Netflix all of the time, and I wouldn't hedge my bets like that when access to the content potentially go away entirely.

It's like people who sold off ALL of their DVDs when they got onboard with Blu-Ray. No consideration was taken into content that may never see the light of day on BD (I have A LOT of DVDs that I'm sure will never make it to BD), or bonus features that don't carry over, etc. I just don't grasp the thought process.

I don't need to own everything forever. I blind-bought them along with seasons of "The Batman" when BB had them for $4.99 each. I figured it was the type of show that I'd probably only watch one time, so given the opportunity to watch it in HD, I opted to sell the DVD's at that point. Something I likely would have done anyway after watching the discs. If I had unlimited space, I'd love to keep everything, but living in a small NYC apartment, you sometimes have to make decisions like this

Netflix will also have them for several years, as it's part of multi-year deal they made with The Cartoon Network (Turner/Warner).

I think they are reluctant to release the animated series due to the quality of the animation but I would buy it in a heart beat.

It would be a huge undertaking, and would likely cost a lot of money to do the restoration, so it is very unlikely to happen.

I'm not familiar with the Archives Collection, does it mean this has to be ordered from WB Shop?

It'll be available at other retailers lke Amazon as well. Amazon did have a page for it earlier, but it was taken down. You're more likely to get it faster by ordering it from wbshop or warnerarchive.com however as other retailers don't always have it available on release date.
