The Fly is interesting because it's the only bottle episode in the series (at least that I can recall). The series is so plot heavy that I think fans enjoyed getting a chance to just hang out with the characters. It's appropriately sandwiched right in the middle of the series, too. It's not one of my favorites, but I think it's pretty neat.

Walt allowing
[Show spoiler]Jane to die right in front of him
may in fact be the seminal moment of the series.

So many things emanate from that scene.

...a profoundly transformational moment for both Walt and Jesse.

Because it was down right hilarious. Plus, it was intersting to have a filler-esque episode that was just two characters in one scene doing goofy stuff. It was a nice change of pace and gives us some breathing space for what comes after.

Fly is actually really good. Walt almost spills the beans about Jane to Jesse.

People forget "Fly" aired the same time as the Lost finale, so it was a creative decision to do something more thematic and inconclusive to avoid losing viewers falling behind from picking one over the other.

I didn't find Fly boring when I first saw the series as a whole, it's completely refreshing and the fact that very little plot development happens makes that conclusion with Walt apologising to Jesse, nearly revealing what he had done not only more tense, but majorly significant.

Which episode had it where
[Show spoiler]Gus did a mass poisoning at a house party and ended up killing Manolo "Manny" from Scarface all over again? That whole moment was a slow setup to a huge turn.

"Don Eladio esta muerto!"

I have to say that Jesse is a bit a bunghole in the first half of season three.

Listen man, I know you
[Show spoiler]lost your girlfriend, the Georgia O'Keeff-loving black widow, the love of your life...who you'd known for all of about two weeks.

But that doesn't give you the right to steal Walt's formula and F up his shit and pretty much force him to reenlist in the game and all.

...like that's just not cool bro.

In season three, Saul Goodman tells Walt that his second wife had sex with his stepfather.

I wonder if we'll get to see that on Better Call Saul?

...I hope so.

I've always felt it was one of the best episodes of the series but I'd rank a lot of the season 2 episodes pretty high.

While I agree that isn't cool, Walt and Jessie pulled each other back into cooking a couple of times. It was somewhat of a recurring story element in the first half of the show.

I'd be willing to bet that statement will be ignored. I can't picture the guy we've been watching in BCS getting married multiple times in the next few years. At least not serious marriages, perhaps drunken one night stand turned into a marriage and then a quicky divorce perhaps. But it really seems to me like we will see scenes set during the BB time frame and Jimmy will still be pining for Kim. Kinda hope I'm wrong on that though.

I doubt it since that would have had to have happened in the past unless they reference it in a flashback.

You're saying that Saul had already been married twice by the start of the first episode of BCS?

...I don't remember that information being revealed.

Seven episodes into season 3 and Jesse's stupidity is starting to get on my nerves.

It wasn't bad enough that he led
[Show spoiler]Hank right to the RV, but then in the hospital he actually threatens to give Walt to the DEA when he gets caught cooking again?

What exactly had Walt done to deserve that?

...that Jesse knew about.

His mom is dead at the start of the show though and there was no step dad at the hospital when she died. In fact, the way Chuck talked to Kim was that their mom was on her own afterwards.

For all of Jesse's melodramatic wailing cries of "He can't keep getting away with it!!!!!!!!!!", it's always amazing to be reminded of the fact that it was Jesse who put Walt and Gus on a crash course towards each other by stealing Gus's meth.

How many terrible things in seasons 4 and 5 emanated from that?

I love Jesse.

...but his character is annoying as hell in season 3.

As much as that may be true, Walt's own ego is what emanated seasons 4-6. Had Walt not become a cocky little shit everything would have remained status quo and he would have lived out the rest of his days with his family and they would have had a fortune to their name. Instead, the little ****er wanted it all for himself because he's a selfish prick.
