I just wanted some clarity because I wasn't sure what you meant. All valid points.

Exactly. I'd even bet that Vince wasnt pleased with the choice, and thats why I quoted Charlie Collier, AMC’s president.

They spin it into "Season five is sixteen episodes".

Lets call it exactly what it really is. They reduced season five to 8 episodes from 13. Then they added a sixth season of only eight episodes that airs a year later.

Either way, they've got two years to develop something to succeed Mad Men and Breaking Bad because while I watch The Walking Dead, it's not the number one draw for me. They're lucky they stuck the landing as well as they did the second half of the show but a lot of what I read from Kirkman and company now is a lot of air coming out of their ass.

I don't know why you would think Vince would be upset. As far as I can tell, he was extremely happy to be able to get a chance to do one more season. He originally stated he wanted 4 seasons for the show, but as time went on, he said he would be able to stretch it out without ruining the show a few more episodes. The fact that AMC not only allowed the show to get a proper ending but on top of it gave it an additional 3 episodes along with the extended time to be able to film and write made Vince extremely pleased. The actors are able to score other work with the hiatus and the writers have time to really make sure they are making the best possible show. I think only foolish people are upset (no direct attack or anything to anyone here, just stating) by the decision to "delay" the episodes because they don't understand anything. There was a very real possibility that season 4 would have been the final episode and there would be no season 5 (or season 6 as some like to call it). I am more than happy with the decisions reached by all parties.

Just an idea I had for an ending to the show that I know will not happen but you never know:

[Show spoiler]Jesse talks for a limited prison sentence to repent for his sins. When he gets out of prison, he goes to Mike's granddaughter, who's older now, he tells her who he his and that he knew her grandfather, and he tells her how much he loved her. In the end, he gives her what's left of his share.

Again, it was just an idea.

That would cool, but how much older should the girl be? if she is too old, they would need another actor to play jesse.

That depends on the jail sentence. If Jesse cooperates, he could maybe get 10 years with parole. That depends on how willing they are to work with him. Jesse has to be in his mid-20s so if he got out of prison in his 30s, which Aaron Paul right within that age range, all they'd have to do is add makeup.

I really want closure for the kids.

Just finished watching the latest episode (i havnt had my pc connected the whole week) and just love the ending. Im amazed Hank took so long to put all the pieces together but i guess he turned a blind eye on family and relatives. The next episode should be great, i wonder how he'll bring it up to Walt...

And yer, that proposed ending above is really good.

I'd say that only naive people believe that they needed an entire year to prepare just three additional episodes.

It's all for money and awards. The viewers were the last thing on their minds.

Makeup perhaps? As long as the gap isnt huge. Then again, they have DDL looking exactly like Lincoln.

I never said they needed an entire year to prepare three additional episodes.

I said because of the year long break, they were able to get three more episodes due to the fact the budget of the show would be spread out over a much longer time span.

That would be fine if it were true. Budget being "Spread" makes no difference. Three episodes are three episodes and they get the Advertisement dollars regardless of when the episodes air. I am not saying that you are a liar, I am saying that the studio/network pulled a Bait & Switch on us. Look at the chronology of the events.

1. They announce that season 5 will be the final season. We were all fine with that.
2. Later, they announce that season five will contain three extra episodes. We were all happy about that.
3. Much later they announce that they may split season five into two parts.
4. Much later they announce that season five will be split into two parts, but no air dates are given. We hope for Dec-Jan
5. MUCH later they announce that season 5 will be split into two parts, eight episodes each, the second half airing a full season later.

I am not angry, I am just disappointed that they reduced season five from what they originally promised us, added a season six, called it season 5, and made us wait an entire year for it.

The Bait was great, but the Switch hurt.

They are buying time, at our expense.

Wendy, Jesse, Skinny Pete, the other guy that hangs out them, the addiction group counselor, and Jesse's girlfriend will form a rag-tag anti-meth militia to take down Walt.
