Finally finished up my marathon last night.
Honestly, I can't think of another TV show that changed in tone so drastically from the beginning to the end. Season one is as much of a dark comedy as it is a drama. Fast forward to the final season and you have arguably the darkest, most depressing season of television in history. Last edited by Ray Jackson; 04-12-2017 at 11:32 PM. |

I lost all respect for Jesse after Ozymandias.
It wasn't just what he did...the betrayal...it was the way he rubbed it in. Yes I still felt happy for him when he was rescued, but he brought a lot of his suffering on himself. |

"Breaking Bad" Virtual Reality Experience in the Works
by Cady Lang June 5, 2017 In case you just haven’t gotten enough of Walter White and Jesse Pinkman, take comfort in knowing that you’ll be able to experience the world of "Breaking Bad" in virtual reality. Show creator Vince Gilligan is teaming up with Sony’s PlayStation division to make a non-game virtual reality project based on the cult show. While both Gilligan and Sony are remaining mum on many of the details about it, Sony did confirm that the project won’t be releasing this year. Sony Global game development boss Shawn Layden told TIME that the project is part of a larger push for virtual reality with mainstream pop culture. “We have Hollywood luminaries and TV show runners, places like the Smithsonian and NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory looking into what the technology can do for them,” he said. “And recently you may have seen Vince Gilligan, the show runner for Breaking Bad, has leaked some information that we’re working together, which we are, in bringing a Breaking Bad experience to virtual reality.” While Layden’s not sure what the end product will look like, he remains excited for the project. “I have no idea, but Vince has shown that he can deliver.” http://ew.com/tv/2017/06/05/breaking...rtual-reality/ |

Breaking Bad-inspired Cocktail Bar in an RV Will Pop-Up in NYC This Summer
by Serena Dai May 25, 2017 ![]() Apparently people can’t get enough of bars and restaurants themed around "Breaking Bad", the AMC show about chemistry teacher turned meth dealer that ended four years ago. London-based company Lollipop is bringing its Walter White-inspired cocktail bar pop-up ABQ to New York this summer, and close to 1,500 people have reportedly already signed up. The bar, which has popped up in the UK for the last two years, is set in an RV, just like White’s meth lab in the show. Up to 30 people at a time can enter, where they will find a “makeshift laboratory to cook cocktails using molecular mixology techniques,” according to a statement. One will be a “Saul’s C2H60,” a semi-frozen cocktail using dry ice and infusion technique nitrogen cavitation. Staff inside dress up in the show’s yellow jumpsuits, and the word “HEISENBERG” — White’s alias in the show — is drawn on a wall. Lollipop representatives said that the exact location of the RV has yet to be determined, but they are looking at several options in Brooklyn. It will open in July for a few months, and tickets start at $45 for a two-hour stint and three cocktails in the bar. The company is known for creating outlandish experiential bar and restaurants, such as the infamous restaurant pop-up where the staff did not wear clothes. Reviews of the London "Breaking Bad" pop-up said “no attention to detail is left spared” and that it was “a pretty authentic experience” — or, we assume, as authentic as a bar pretending to be a meth lab in an RV from a TV show can be. And while the claim that nearly 1,500 people have signed up already sounds dubious, history says that Breaking Bad-themed pop-ups do very well in New York. The two-day Los Pollos Hermanos pop-up earlier this year literally only served curly fries, and people still waited in crazy long lines for it. On one day, 1,900 people showed up. A cafe in Bushwick is also inspired by the show. Find out more info at http://abqny.com/ https://ny.eater.com/2017/5/25/15691...bar-pop-up-nyc |

Massive necro bump. Sorry. ![]() So I've been rewatching the show over the past few weeks. Prior to this rewatch, I hadn't watched it for a few years. Last night I watched season three, episode 10, "Abiquiu". When Walt enters Gus' house, the are in fact toys for small children present. There is one of those tiny desks with a super tiny chair against the hall wall. It's covered with coloring books and a pail and other goodies. In the distance, below a lamp, clear as day is a big, bright red Tonka Truck. Gus also describes what they will be eating for dinner, a Chilean recipe for fish stew. He says he rarely gets to have it because, "The kids wont eat it". As soon as I saw the toys and heard that it jarred my memory of this thread/conversation. So I guess it was all a facade to appear as a family man. But the toys were definitely there. /end necro bump. Man this show was great. |
