as much as I'm excited for more stories in the Breaking Bad universe I also want Vince Gilligan to move out of his comfort zone and try creating another series...Breaking Bad ended 6 years ago and he can't let it go...is he afraid to try something new?...afraid that it won't reach the critical mass that Breaking Bad did?

I love Better Call Saul (might be the best prequel TV series of all time) but I think Vince has the talent to create another masterpiece...he started out on The X-Files so he has more unique stories in him...let this Breaking Bad movie be the end...don't become James Cameron who's now become obsessed with only making Avatar movies for the rest of his life

I have no doubt that this is going to be good.

But I really don’t see the point at all.

What story is left to tell?

Walt is dead.

...move on Vince.

I mean if that's how you feel, that's fine, but it also completely validates the way Walt had treated Jesse for all that time.

Breaking Bad is my favorite series of all time and I'll take it over any film not named blade runner/taxi driver but breaking bad is Walt's story. Aaron Paul is great but its hard to feel anything other than numb without a whole lot of Bryan Cranston and Vince's often corny flashbacks with a bit of walt in them wont cut it (for me anyway).

I think this would only apply if he wasn't still creating quality material in the BrBa world. Why should he stop being focused on it if there is quality to be found?

Pretty much. It always bothered me how Walt got his "die happy" send off and Jesse basically just got his freedom and a horrific amount of PTSD.

Vince did help co-create a show called Battle Creek in 2015 soon after Breaking Bad's ending on CBS and only 9 episodes in, it was immediately cancelled by the Network.

I remember Battle Creek being covered by news outlets and entertainment media as one of the most anticipated shows to watch and look out for since Breaking Bad, also since it had Vince Gilligan's name all over it. Sadly, no one tuned-in and watched it and was cancelled.

I think the reason it failed was because it was your typical run of the mill buddy-cop procedural, with some comedy in it. There was really no through storyline to follow. And lets be honest, CBS has like eight other Cop-procedural dramas running against it at the time. Also Person of Interest was on air during that time as well and was a huge hit for CBS.

Yeah, Battle Creek was okay, the leads had decent chemistry, but it was no loss when it was cancelled. Still, I think Gilligan wasn't too involved with the show besides having written the pilot a while before Breaking Bad. I wouldn't base any expectations for what he could do now on that show.

excellent interview with Vince Gilligan talking about what to expect in the new Breaking Bad movie and more...

series showrunner and film director Vince Gilligan revealed that this new film will feature more than 10 returning characters from Walt’s (Bryan Cranston) Heisenberg days...Gilligan also revealed that El Camino was created for Breaking Bad fans...people who have never seen the series may be able to enjoy it, but don’t expect El Camino to hold anyone’s hand...“If, after 12 years, you haven’t watched Breaking Bad, you’re probably not going to start now,” Gilligan said. “If you do, I hope that this movie would still be engaging on some level, but there’s no doubt in my mind that you won’t get as much enjoyment out of it.”

at one point during the series, Gilligan and his cinematographer, Michael Slovis, made an unsuccessful pitch to Sony and AMC to shoot Breaking Bad in the CinemaScope format that Sergio Leone had used to shoot Clint Eastwood's Dollars Trilogy...on El Camino, Gilligan got his wish — Better Caul Saul DP Marshall Adams shot the movie on the ARRI Alexa 65 camera used for The Revenant and in a 2.39 wide-screen format that seems designed to showcase a gunslinger's squint across the desert...

Looks fantastic. Minimal dialogue. Still have no idea what's going on. That's how you do a trailer.
