Been awhile since this thread got bumped, and season 3 premieres March 21st, so I decided to do some digging into the upcoming season to inform other fans like me, about what we can expect on this fantastic drama. BTW, I am very excited for the upcoming Blu-ray releases of seasons 1 and 2 coming up in March just in time for Season 3, for all those folks that never got to see the show before maybe they will check it out now. Anyways, here's what I could find there are some potential SPOILERS ahead, but man am I pumped for this season!

THIS IS AWESOME!

A different sort of "White House" resident will be getting some play in Times Square this month, even though a controversial outerwear advertisement in which a certain Leader of the Free World was featured is due to be taken down. Its replacement -- a new and edgy ad from AMC -- features Walt White, the chemistry teacher turned drug kingpin from the network's Emmy Award-winning series Breaking Bad, the third season of which premieres on Sun., Mar. 21 at 10PM | 9C. (Click here to view photos of the billboard.)

Decked out in black jacket against the backdrop of the Great Wall of China, series star Bryan Cranston dresses things up with the latest in gas mask headgear, the most critical accoutrement in the drug-making biz. The tag line on AMC's version, "Getting Away With It Since 2008," references the first season the series debuted.

"Breaking Bad's Walt White is Mr. Chips, but he's taken a wrong turn along the way and turned into Scarface," says Charlie Collier, President of AMC. "This was an irresistible opportunity to get attention for a critically acclaimed and award-winning series."

Season 3 Promos:

Breaking Bad: An Interesting Offer
Breaking Bad: Fire
Breaking Bad: Explosive

Attention Breaking Bad fans! AMC hereby announces that Season 3 will premiere on Sun., Mar. 21 at 10 PM | 9C. Back-to-back Emmy winner Bryan Cranston will once again be pulling double duty as star and director of the premiere episode, “No Mas.” Of course, we wouldn’t want to launch you into the new season cold turkey, and to that end AMC will be hosting a “Best of Breaking Bad” marathon featuring six of the best episodes on Fri., Mar. 19 beginning at 8 PM | 7C. In addition, all Season 2 episodes will be available On Demand in February. Complementing the third season of Breaking Bad will be a variety of new content here online such as a “Top 10 Baddest Moments” video counting down some signature scenes; an interactive graphic novel in which users can grill a suspect; some all-new webisodes (including one that’s animated) and a Criminal Aptitude Test that let’s you know just what kind of crook you’re cooked up to be.

Are Walt and Jessie going their separate ways on Breaking Bad? Sure looks that way since Damages evildoer David Costabile is joining the AMC drama as Walt’s (Bryan Cranston) new assistant, Gale. Described as an eager student and a brilliant chemist, Gale is the antithesis of Jessie (Aaron Paul) in that he’s more interested in the magic of chemistry than getting rich. Costabile’s casting isn’t necessarily confirmation that Jessie will go rogue in season 3. But given the mounting tension between mentor and protégé, it’s certainly plausible. Costabile, who also recurs as Mel’s hubby on Flight of the Conchords, is on board for a minimum of four episodes.

I was catching up on lost but I've lost a lot of interest in that show. I don't feel the "What was that?!" "wait a min, isn't that .." moments anymore. I'm pretty sure that the season finale* will be just a "meh" moment for me
and I realized how much I missed loving a tv show like I do with breaking bad

edit: series finale*

can't wait for season 3 to start

Lol hell I put all that time and effort into the thread over 2 weeks ago, and not one reply. I was beginning to think nobody cared about good television! Good to see someone around here does.

I know the feeling, I've created breaking bad threads on different boards and always get just a few posts I try to get the word out about BB (so far I have a few friends who started watching) but I fear it'll end up being one of the shows where a lot of people "discover" how good it is once it's over

It's been a long time since I was this excited because of a new season of a tv show. There are some interviews with the cast on the AMC website that show some new scenes that aren't in the promos. It all looks very, very promising.
I wonder if they can top season two, which was nothing short of phenomenal.

Also looking forward to the Blu-ray release

I know exactly what you mean, it's one of two shows I have forced people to watch the other being Sons of Anarchy. Which not one single person has ever said after watching it, "This sucks" it's always "Holy Shit!" and than they are addicted, nobody could ever sit through the first two episodes of BB without saying "this is boring" and than never giving it another shot. Yeah season one was slow to kick off the major storylines but it was still compelling tv.

I am still shocked that they are releasing BOTH seasons on Blu next month. Breaking Bad is definitely one hell of a unique show, that pushes the boundaries of modern tv rules. I am curious what it'd going to be like for Jesse and Walt this season, and considering how off balance Walt has grown over the previous two seasons, I will definitely be curious to see if he ever finds out he is the reason that 747 went down over his ABQ.

I think the reason why this is because people are used to watching TV that requires little thinking and shows that are quick like sitcoms or shows on NBC, ABC, CBS. There is also little promotion for shows like this on AMC, FX and even HBO and Showtime unless it's Mad Men or The Sopranos when it was on. I didn't even know about Breaking Bad until I heard an interview with Cranston promoting the start of the 2nd season. I'm glad I am aware of it. What a great show.

Yeah very true, I think for the most part people are completely unaware that AMC even has tv shows, let alone this one even exists. AMC and FX are definitely the edgiest stations on cable.

I like the look the two new Mexican criminals. From what I read they are twins and cousins of Tuco and they came looking for Heisenberg, so this should be a great season!

Default 6 Minute Recap

There's a new promo, or whatever you want to call it. 6 minute recap of what's happened so far with a few new scenes:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bmk0kkznxSw

Pretty darn cool video, and what an awesome scene with Tuco's cousins. Sitting on Walt's bed with an ax I said this before, but man, I cannot wait!

Thanks a lot! I cannot wait for Tuco's cousins, ever since the promo with them walking away from the exploding truck I've been getting chills, and this new promo didn't detract from that excitement that's for sure.

that's an awesome promo, i think i've watched it 4 or 5 times

and about those twins, I remember early on thinking tuco was one of the baddest villans i've seen on tv, but these two look like they'll be on another level, just sitting there on the bed with a blank stare, axe in hand waiting for (?) to come home

They obviously want us to think they are waiting for Heisenberg, but since we all know no harm will come to him just yet, I am very curious as to what will come of the meeting with your neighborhood friendly ax men.

Will we ever find out who is in the body bags on Breaking Bad, or are we to just assume that they are faceless victims of the plane crash?

[Show spoiler]The body bags on Walt's (Bryan Cranston) driveway contain two (or more—yikes!) of the 167 air-disaster fatalities. Turns out the Whites' house was smack-dab in the middle of the debris field and, as Walt screams to a cop before his hilarious arrest (spoiler!) in this season's second episode, "Hellfire rained down on my house...There were body parts in my yard!" For more about Walt's close ties to the Grim Reaper, come back here the day of Breaking Bad's season-three premiere, Sunday, March 21, for our exclusive chat with show runner Vince Gilligan.

The below photo by far stands out to me the most, for the following reasons:

Flynn (AKA Walt Jr) is sitting on a Bench at a Bus stop reminiscent of our old Pal Badger, back pack and all. And there is that ever present add for Legal services offered by our Legal eagle Pal Saul. Oh, and whats Flynn clutching, why its a Tasty Beverage drink from "Los Pollos Hermano's". Where does this all lead to? Are we to believe that Innocence (Flynn) is truly lost in Season 3? Does Flynn turn to "slingin mad Volume and Fat stackin Benjies"?

TV Guide and Entertainment Weekly Can't Wait for Season 3

This week TV Guide is giving clues to the upcoming season while The Wall Street Journal notes Breaking Bad's theatrical background.

• TV Guide throws out some tidbits about the upcoming season from creator Vince Gilligan: In Season 3, "we're going further down the dark river of Walter White's soul," Gilligan says.

• More playwrights are turning to television, says The Wall Street Journal, noting that two of Breaking Bad's staff writers are formerly of the stage.

• Entertainment Weekly calls Breaking Bad television's "wildest, most unpredictable series," placing it at No. 2 on the magazine's list of the ten best TV shows to watch this spring.

• The Detroit News anticipates Breaking Bad's Sun., Mar. 21 premiere, noting of Walter White, "His wife and kids are gone but he has all this money and guilt. Get ready for a great season."

Um I loved Brick, so this is awesome! And BTW where the hell is everybody to discuss all this awesomeness with me?!!?!?!?

Quote:
Mad Men has absolutely earned its myriad of Emmys, but for my money, it may not even be the best show on AMC. The similarly alliterative Breaking Bad is an equally brilliant source of drama with a less radiant critical spotlight, notwithstanding the two Emmy wins for star Bryan Cranston. The third season premieres March 21st, which can’t come soon enough.

Now /Film reports that Rian Johnson, director of Brick and The Brothers Bloom, has completed a directing gig on the tenth episode of the upcoming season. Though it’s not a combination I would have ever dreamed of, I am wholeheartedly behind the union. To direct the episode, Johnson theoretically took a break from Looper his supposed treatise on the advancements in hitman methodology in a future where time travel exists. However, I’m skeptical that his filmography–which currently consists of the non-articles brick, brothers, bloom, breaking, and bad–can include a word that doesn’t start with a “B”.

After the jump, you will find a bit of what Johnson had to say about his work on the show.

Johnson was understandably as excited to get involved with Bad as his first foray into television. He sounds as excited to helm the episode as I am to watch it:

“This was my first experience in television, and the first time I have directed anything that I haven’t written. I jumped at the opportunity, for one reason: Breaking Bad is, for my money, the best show on television.

I feel like the show is still a bit of a cool secret, but I think its underground status will be short-lived. I’ve read the scripts up to episode 10 (the one I directed) and as amazing as season 2 was, as a fan of the show myself I can safely say that season 3 is going to blow folks away. [Creator] Vince Gilligan would shoot me if I gave anything away, but I will say that it starts with a bang and ratchets all the existing elements way up. It was such an honor and a pleasure to be involved in it.”

Sounds like the third season is shaping up nicely. Can’t wait to see it.

The relationship between Johnson and Dave Chen, author of the article, goes back a ways; the latter has lured the former to the /Filmcast several times over the last year. His most recent appearance on the podcast in January is definitely worth a listen.

The third season of Breaking Bad premieres March 21 at 10/9c on AMC.

Brick is one of my favorite movies
Rian Johnson's directing style is so very unique and perfectly fits Breaking Bad IMO, so this is just AMAZING! I remember listening to the Brick commentary track and you could hear that he absolutely loves his job. They didn't have a huge budget when they were shooting Brick and often had to resort to little tricks to achieve what they had envisioned, and they manged to make it look fantastic.
This is something Vince Gilligan mentioned in the Breaking Bad Insider Podcast, too. And just like Brick it's a treat to the eyes. So again, this is a really inspired choice by Gilligan and his crew.

btw I subscribed to this thread now, so I won't miss any more awesomeness.
It's really too bad though there aren't more people discussing (one of) the best show(s) on TV.

Yeah Brick, is definitely one of my favorites as well. I have been trying to get people here into this show for over a year now, and hardly anybody ever comes to see what this show is all about, and how insanely different it is from everything else on tv. Funny though, at any given time there are 30 members here in the WWE forums, lol. Guess that's their idea of incredible storylines.
