Seems like the time has come! Or will come within the next 12 months.
I'm soooo jealous of you having all these episodes to look forward to. I'd highly recommend you to buy these as soon as you can, I guarantee you will love the show. The best show ever made imo.

I watched everything in 18 days at the start of the year. Unbelievably addictive show. SO psyched for a UK release finally!

What was wrong with season 5? I thought it was awesome. My only quibble would be that the eight episode run felt a little too short and, on a week to week basis, a couple of things or developments felt rushed. But once it got to the last episode and it all tied together it was incredible. I have a feeling it will work even better on blu-ray without the week between episodes.

Also, that cliffhanger may be the most cruel season-ending cliffhager I have ever seen. Well, at least up there with Star Trek: TNG Best of Both Worlds. Still, as inevitable as that moment was, what a hell of a way to leave the story for ten months.

Quite reasonably priced IMO. Although they'll probably drop lower still in a few months, I'll hold off I think. Fantastic news that they're finally getting a UK release though.

*Bought S1-4 last week on DVD assuming it was unlikely we'd ever get Blurays*

Season 5 (so far) just really hasn't been as good as the previous ones. Like Lost i've felt that there has been a noticeable dip in quality in the 5th season.

The 5th season has been excellent IMO. Plus the second half is yet to come, the show tends to really ramp things up as each season progresses.

Fair enough. Though season 5 of Lost may be my favourite and a big upswing from the freighter stuff of season 4 (I love all the
[Show spoiler]time travel
stuff).

Maybe you'll enjoy season 5 more on blu-ray, knowing more what to expect and being able to watch them all as one big part of the story rather than individual episodes.

He means the second half of season 5. Considering they've named this release The Complete Fifth Season they may well name the last release The Complete Sixth Season. Though I still think they'll go with something like The Final Episodes/The Final Season.

Ah that probably highlights the differences between our tastes then, as i hated all the
[Show spoiler]time travel stuff in Lost!
, however i loved all the freighter stuff.

Re: S5 of BB, the train episode was very good, but other than that it's not been great for me at all. The biggest problem, and i know this would be a problem for me before the season even started was
[Show spoiler]knowing that Gus was no longer going to be on the show. Arguably the greatest/ best acted villain i have EVER seen in anything ever. So magnetic. Whilst i loved his send off at the end of season 4, for me the show lost a huge part of what was making it so good then. BB without Gus is severly lacking IMO

I know what you mean and I was worried about that too - it took a couple of episodes for me to adjust. Still, seeing how
[Show spoiler]the vacumn his death created was filled by Walter was worth it for me (plus his death scene was one of the all-time greatest), and that's part of what I meant about how any quibbles I had about the start of the season were gone by the end: seeing Walter where he was, what he accomplished, how he had done it and, most of all, what Gilligan's plan for the half-season had been. Unfortuantely Gus needed to be gone to move Walter into the final stages of his journey - otherwise we'd always be seeing him as a servant to someone else. We needed to see him rise to the next level and that could only be done without Gus. But I don't disagree that Gus was one of the most incredible and powerful characters on the show. I hope we see a flashback with him again before the end.

I expect to enjoy season 5 even more on a repeat viewing (which I did for seasons 3 and 4 as well) and I hope you do too, now you're most used to watching Breaking Bad
[Show spoiler]without Gus.

Besides, it it's magnetism you're after then the first episode of season 5 had loads of it

Just thought I'd chip in with my opinions on season 5...I thought it was/is great. The train episode was excellent and had me on the edge of my seat. It was also good to see Mike (can't remember actor's real name) get a larger part as I really like(
[Show spoiler]d!
) him. I also thought season 5 generally had a faster pace compared to some of the previous seasons (eg early season 4).

LOL on the magnetism.

I hopefully will enjoy it more on repeat viewing. When i started watching BB, the 2nd episode of season 4 had only just aired. So i watched seasons 1-3 in about a week and a half, then started watching it week by week. Man i wish i could watch all shows like that (quickly) rather than waiting. The wait was a right nightmare with Lost!

I realise that
[Show spoiler]Gus had to go for Walt to ascend to chief villain if you will, and there's an irony in me complaining about Walt being the chief villain, seeing as the show is called breaking bad, and that's exactly what Walt has done, but without Gus i think some of the magic has definitely gone. To me, Gus was as crucial o the show's brilliance as Walt, Jessie and Hank (less said about the wholly unlikeable Skylar the better ) so by losing an element that is so successful, then some of the magic is definitely gone for good. I would almost compare it to getting absolute confirmation in Lost that John Locke was indeed dead, and that he was never coming back. Gutted!
