That's sarcasm, by the way.
Pan is a BD-66. Some of that will be used up for things other than the actual movie. The movie itself will be between 50-60GB. If they put even 10 minutes of it on USB, that would only require about a 6 GB USB stick. Given that this was specifically a tech demo that Dolby provided him, you can reasonably assume that it was less compressed than what was on the disc (USB flash drives can reach up to 128 GB capacity.)

Facts, opinions, Groucho Marx quotations (I wish) ,

I think some of you should take a breath, before the Mods have to come and clean up part of this thread.

Not that anyone has been un-civil, but please try to be more civil to everyone.

(EDIT: Funny, I made this post without ever seeing Oildude's post in the Westworld thread. Now that I saw what he said, I just don't want anyone to think I was parroting him...)

Default HDR video formats - the prospects

"...
In practice, probably few consumers are aware of all the ins and outs. Universal HDR support is a strong selling point. It works like an insurance premium. After all, as a consumer you never know what will happen in the future. ...

Do I favor one particular HDR format? I advocate universal HDR support (especially in hardware) but that doesn’t mean I think HDR formats stand equal chances. HDR10 is omnipresent and Dolby Vision unlikely to be beaten as the premium format. HLG stands a chance of establishing itself as the format for broadcast TV and live OTT streaming but needs to work harder to gain support. SL-HDR1 and HDR10+ seem to be fighting an uphill battle and running behind."

I have to agree. I watched so far Despicable Me 1 and 2, Spiderman Homecoming, Resident Evil Vendetta, Starship Troopers Traitor of Mars, and Dark Tower in Dolby Vision disc + countless of DV titles on Vudu, and I can attest they all look superior to their HDR10 counterparts

DV content continues to grow in multiple sources:

EA has just detailed the November update for the First World War-inspired Battlefield 1 on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC. Beyond several fixes for the game, and a new interface, the developer noted that it will now support Dolby Vision HDR for compatible TV sets running on PC.

This is a big deal, if true. What is your source for your statement? You mentioned two confirmations. The forum members should be able to judge the reliably of these sources for themselves. Without links, you are just spreading false information.

I assume that from about here – https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread...5#post14312525

There have been a bunch of posts from another thread moved over to this thread thus filling out the last couple pages? I’ll quickly skim through and try to contribute to anything that catches my eye.

Your below post shows you have no trouble judging the quality of a source when it supports Dolby Vision:

lol @ 4k.com.
You know a format is truly garbage when you have to post a review in its defense from a site that is known for literally writing fake reviews.
My reading comprehension is very good, as you know.

So again, you post as fact something that you cannot back up.

Because I am a big supporter of the spread of dynamic metadata, I am so disappointed.

It's not my fault that you can't read. This is something that is easily obtainable, even by you, and it's something that was always likely, given the long partnership between the two companies, which includes their work on a mixed reality headset, and more recently, their partnership on the Xbox One X: https://news.xbox.com/2017/09/01/sam...ng-experience/

You can always wait until CES 2018 if you want to officially drown in your sorrows, as the growth of HDR10+ is no doubt of great concern to you.

I really wish that you and your alter ego Lineproduct on AVS would quit it. And now that I see more of Ruby's posts on AVS, I see that he has a bias view towards HDR10+. That ruins his creditability with me in reference to his "mandatory" HDR10+ base layer information.

Thanks for the link. Why did you not post it in your OP or when I asked for a link? It is common curtsey to provide the link for your source.

And speaking of links, I guess you are correct about me not knowing how to read. I read the article that you linked and I saw no mention of HDR10+.

Dude wtf is wrong with you, there is no mention of HDR10+ in that article. Unless you have a valid proof where it says what you seem to be implying, do not spread hearsay as a ‘fact’.

Is it really that difficult for some people to read? This came from both Samsung and Microsoft Xbox support, who were told about HDR10+ being added by their respective engineering departments. You're free to confirm this for yourself. It's not my job to hold your hand through life.
