So what do we have in common here. DeadPool2 via a conversation with Samsung and Xbox support.

So if you are also DeadPool2, congratulations, you are spreading a rumor as good as any on the internet.
I'm everyone on the internet!

Your username could not be more apt. I can taste the salt from miles away.

So are you suggesting to play this short from YouTube of directly from Netflix to see what it's all about?
Also, will it play only in HDR10 or also in Dolby Vision when streaming from Dolby Vision-ready 4K LG Oled tv?

I think you'll appreciate this quote from the past:

I was basically right. 19 DV discs (with a ton of issues to boot) out of a total of 300+ UHD discs. Might as well be 0.

Haven't been wrong yet.

You and the guy in the mirror are the only two that believe that statement. There's no shame in being wrong (think your "Arrival" review).

Of course you haven't, not when your either outright lying or making stuff up. But hey, you heard it from your father's, brother's, nephew's, cousin's, former roommate; so that makes it fact. By all means carry on...

I didn't have to hear that from anyone. It was common sense that DV would never take off on disc. Anyone with a brain could have seen that very clearly, and it turned out to be 100% correct.

Real 4K HDR: Netflix Meridian (From new HDR master) - YouTube

For new readers to the forum or ICYMI and are unfamiliar with the short Meridian, in this post which pictured selected HDR sequences, graded by Netflix and then analyzed for its HDR by a working group involved in video compression, if you also check the hyperlink in the post (which I just fixed) - https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread...n#post13298760

you will get some production background info on the short film.

As an aside, for other events aimed toward providing additional reference footage to the industry, as well as in this case, producing images using a variety of cameras for the purpose of exploring the limits of HDR capture, I’ll add that last spring an HDR reference image shoot was performed at Sony Pictures on Stage 7 for the purpose of creating high quality reference images and video. The elements of the shoot included test charts, stained glass a suit of armor, models and various lighting set-ups available in Stage 7.

Cameras used included Sony and Fuji still cameras, a Sony F65, and an Arri Alexa. The time and contributions from many experts included ASC Cinematographer Robert Primes, Sony, Arri and other ASC members.

Tip of the hat to Simon from BBC R&D, for which I think may represent his first patent -

Ok, I have not read all the pages here, but I've gone through quite a few.

I currently have a number of PS4's and PS3 (for blu) and both a 50" plasma and a projector (for the HT) - the BenQ w1070 (about 2 years old now).

So I don't have any 4k screens (yet). I'm hoping to one day get a 4k projector, but that's not on the radar yet.

Here is my question for anyone's opinion.
q1: Is there any value to just buying the UHD disks since most (or all) come with a blu-ray anyway? That way, in 2-3 years I don't have to rebuy them all (for instance, WW, Spidey, John Wick 2, etc).

q2: Is there any value for me to get a 4k player, but output to my current projector? It's the BenQ w1070. Would a 4k disk output as 1080p look identical to the blu-ray? Or could it be better or worse on 1080p output?

Not sure if anyone has asked this one, I literally read tons and tons of pages, but didn't see this topic.

If you can get it at 60fps, I would say Netflix is still the way to go. It should play in Dolby Vision.

It does!
Dolby Vision + 60fps = amazing picture!

Note: whoever said that 60fps doesn't look cinematic must watch this short film! The only negative was that it's only 11 mins long. This is what movies should look like in 2017 and beyond!
