Konka announces the Aphaea MicroLED Watch

This groundbreaking product uses a 2-inch microLED display with a pixel pitch of 0.12 mm - which means the resolution is around 400x400. The MicroLED chips are 30um in size

It is not clear how close Konka is to commercialize this product - but in any case this is a great achievement and this is the world's first microLED wearable display shown in a real product. The display is produced on an LTPS backplane, it achieves a brightness of 1,500 nits and a color gamut of 147% DCI-P3. Konka says that battery life of this watch is up to 35 days.

The report also mentions a "high luminosity" OLED panel with peak brightness of up to around 1000 nits. It is described as being similar to the customized panel found in Panasonic's flagship OLED TVs.

However, FlatpanelsHD's sources describe it as someting else; the next OLED evolution where OLED pixels take advantage of a new luminous element and composition to enable higher brightness. We have heard it described as 20% brighter (full white screen). We have not been able to independently confirm the information so please consider it a rumor for now.

it's most noticable with skin colors as people occupy that space on screen the affected part makes people's skin look sunburned.

last night an LG rep said it would be submitted for possible approval because even though their 3 year warranty goes by manufactured date I was able to submit proof that it's been under 3 years of my actual purchase date. picked up my 2017 model in March of 2018. So fingers crossed.

LG approved to repair my TV. They will cover cost for parts but I do have to pay labor cost for Service Tech.

In the meantime I definitely saving towards a new TV. Will see what the TV line up looks like in 2021.

also can't lie and say I'm not intrigued by the rumor of 1000 nit OLED displays. I do want to move up to at least a 65 inch so I'm looking at early 2022. enough time to see what's going on with different display types.

No need to keep making incremental upgrades every year or two, blowing thousands of dollars. Just wait for micro-led. 1,000 nit OLED, why? We've been constantly told by the OLED cartel that 1,000 nits are not necessary for OLED.
