And that's of course the best approach. If it doesn't show up in content, better to not go looking! |

I am thinking this will be an improvement in blooming that will make existing LED owners happy. Whether this is strong enough to convert an OLED owner is another question. Either way this should be a great set for a lot of people. |

No one has seen any BRAVIA 9 mass production units yet.
The BRAVIA 9 prototypes I have spent a lot of time with had very minimal blooming that was only seen in a totally dark room and when viewing off axis. Other than this very welcome enhancement, the overall picture quality is exceptional and for the first time you will see more details and depth with all images and all content. This is because of the very deep blacks and very high peak luminance capability and Sony's new 2nd generation of the very well respected Backlight Master Drive that now controls every tiny MiniLED's luminance levels. |

Sony will not release the amount of MiniLEDs that are in the BRAVIA 9 or the BRAVIA 7. But along with the new 2024 Backlight Master Drive upgraded features Sony also increased the amount of local dimming zones and MiniLED backlights.

All I am after is a 10% improvement in overall picture quality over the ZD9. I am ok with a bit of blooming ands raised blacks. ZD9 does a very good job with rendering highlights against a dark background although it can bloom but at least Sony doesn't do a Samsung by muting highlights.

If you are buying a TV this year and your budget is under $5k, the Sony Bravia 9 is the obvious choice and the best display in this price class available to date.
While OLED might have more precise per pixel illumination, that is at the expense of the entire picture failing to meet the HDR specifications of the many movies with 3000-4000+nit content. While MiniLED is not perfect, it brings us the closest to the impactful HDR grade that is actually on the disc rather than the downgraded version OLED TVs display (OLED is essentially the "720p" of HDR). MiniLED also doesn't require the babying that OLED does to avoid burnin, nor does it have brightness loss over time as OLED can after regular pixel voltage calibrations; MiniLED is clearly the best transition technology until MicroLED is affordable |
