Not only will Micro-LED surpass and supplant OLED as the display tech of choice, I see the beginning to the end of front projection.

Sony was first to develop a mass production Micro-LED, named Crystal LED. Next week I'll be attending Sony's first presentation of their new Crystal Micro-LED display technology, known as Crystal LED B and Crystal LED C series.

This is a private event with Sony's chief engineers from Japan flying into Sony NYC where they will have two one hour private meetings with me. I'll know much more after my meetings, but at this moment I would say we're a long way off from seeing Micro-LED become a main stream display technology.

I am a big advocate for the advancement of display technology, but don't discount the very big technology advancement in this year's OLED TVs. 2021 OLED TVs are brighter, have leapfrogged like a bullfrog on steroids in video processing that control and drive the new OLED module, and the threat of burn-in has again been nicely reduced.

Sony's, LG's and Panasonic's premium 2021 OLED TVs are stunning and when Micro-LED finally comes to the mass market I will be among the first to praise the anticipated advancements, but for now and the mid-term future OLED display technology delivers the best picture quality in moderate and low ambient light viewing and is affordable and available now.

I'm also optimistic for advancements in MiniLED and Dual Cell LCD display technology.

Mini led is just a bandaid on an aging technology. Not as significant as an upgrade as everyone had hoped. The contrast and saturation are not actually improved. Samsungs last great contrast tv was the 2018 Q9FN. But it had bad crush and dimmed highlights at times.

Villaman today did a great job of showing how the contrast and saturation is basically unchanged from previous lcd tvs when compared to an emmissive display.

Remember the discussion about the new Panasonic oled possibly being 1000+ nits? Turned out to be fud. Just under 900 nits peak and 150nits full screen. The Sony A90j has brighter full screen and higher peak depending who calibrates it.

900 nits, that's pretty bright. We're in a race for nits.

However, he also showed that the C-1 came up short in shadow detail in comparison to the QNED, which is really disappointing. LG just doesn't know how to improve their OLEDs in that area, they need to ask Sony for help.

I know that if you can afford such a display, then you obviously don't have to worry about the cost...but $100,000 can buy a bunch of other furniture, some of which could obscure a 65" G1 that costs 1/50th of the price, lol.
