Brighter OLED TVs Are HERE! Is Panasonic sharing technology with LG?
Not Only LG with brighter OLED TVs but ALL TV makers can have brighter OLED displays!

Edit:
Hi Robert,
you are becoming more and more popular outside of the US.
I want to clarify that I am French like our comrade DanBa.

NPD: Domestic TV Installed Base Getting Bigger, Newer

Quote:
Nothing drives television purchases and screen size more than a pandemic. That trend emerges in new data from The NPD Group that found in the last several years American TV screens have been getting bigger. Among installed TVs, 15% are 60 inches or larger, up from 11% a year ago – and newer – the average unit age is 4.9 years old, down from 5.4 years in 2019.

According to NPD’s TV Ownership Trends Report, the average size of a replacement TV jumped to 51 inches from 49 inches in November 2019, and 47 inches in November 2018.

“This year home entertainment became even more crucial as consumers spent more time at home due to the COVID-19 pandemic,” analyst John Buffone said in a statement. “TV sales, among other tech items, saw strong interest and as a result we saw notable shifts in the installed base.”

It's true then, that Videophile still exists, so it isn't just about gaming and gamers.

My first HDTV was a rear-projection 720p Panasonic LCD. I had a premium DVD player to go with it and I watched many many many TV shows and movies on it.

SpareChange video says Panasonic GZ1000 soon in the US. This is a 2019 model and was replaced by HZ1000.

Btw, my current TV is a Panasonic 65GZ1000 OLED.

If you got sensitive eyes for motion then I would not recommend the GZ as it suffers from micro stutter and handles 24fps differently which causes micro stutter aka head turn stutter quite frequently especially with HDR contents.

Mine was a 768p Pioneer plasma from 2004, think it cost around 7,000$ at the time. Has two HDMI inputs (pretty impressive for '04), plus component, RCA, and S-Video. I still got it today and it works great, though it has a bit of burn-in from being used by a PC-based streaming box.

They are not the exact same. The GZ Robert has is specifically built for Hollywood Professional clients. They are hand selected, professionally graded, etc. Now of course they could still have the same motion issues you mentioned, but they are the best of the best panels as far as uniformity, and accuracy. That's why he only gets 10 a month of the GZ. It takes months to certify them as Hollywood graded.

I don't see any mico stutter or any stutter of any kind. We mostly played 4K 24p HDR content and everything looks stunning on our GZ1000s. I had our professional calibrator test and evaluate our GZ1000s in our light control theater and other than a lot of 24p 4K HDR content we put up 10-bit HDR 24fps test patterns all performed perfectly and beautifully.

I assume this was fixed by the Hollywood color scientists working with Panasonic engineers to develop and get these OLED displays approval for their adoption of these OLED displays for Hollywood professional client review.

Unrelated to motion resolution these Hollywood reference displays have hand selected OLED modules that are the cleanest with the best screen uniformity, no tinting and the highest peak luminance capability.

Is it possible that the Hollywood graded models use a more powerful processor than the consumer version, and thus no micro stutter?

I don't believe so, ^^ but they are tuned and programmed to Hollywood color scientists standards. I was told they did not just request enhancements in color fidelity and color saturation they reviewed the EOTF PQ, the up-conversion and motion resolution performance.

Thanks. Appreciate your feedback.

Please do visit UK AVForums owners thread. People like me with motion sensitive eyes are able to see the micro stutter easily. Vincent Teoh says it is blink and miss type but it is not to some of us with sensitive eyes.

The TV seems to be converting 24fps to 60fps and applying some pulldown. Micro stutters has been there on Panasonic TVs including their last Plasmas. The effect is just more pronounced on OLEDs.
