Per rdodolak and mallomar's suggestion, here's what I have in the OP now.

According to the alphanumeric codes on the discs, it appears that most of the bad discs were manufactured by Sonopress (aka Arvato Digital Services). Look for IFPI Mould codes 10K6 or 10K7. If you don't see those codes, look for IFPI codes starting with L0 or LB.

What do you mean by pay US & CA shipping charges? People in the US have to pay to ship them back to Criterion. I'd guess shipment of the replacement discs would be free.

Has anyone had issues with Che? I cannot find the number on Disc 1, but Disc 2 shows the L0 / L1 codes.

as for rot... out of thousands of dvd's I've had 2 go bad on me... now in the course of a few days I'm looking at over a dozen blu-rays

I sent a polite email to Well go usa documenting the disc rot, the codes and am asking for replacement discs. we'll see how they handle it.

I did that yesterday as well. So far I've received an auto-reply stating tech support has received the mail and will get back to me soon. Having sent the e-mail late Friday afternoon I didn't expect to hear back until Monday at the earliest.

There's some light bronzing on my discs, though they play fine for now.

I don't have Che but those aren't the right codes. That verbiage simply reflects the two different layers in this case layer 0 and layer 1. The code should be prefixed by IFPI.

Wow, just not sure what to make of this. Thought these discs were meant to be sturdy and lasting. Which company next?

I went through my WellGo discs, and "Shaolin" and "Legend Of The Fist" are browning.

I also think I see the beginning of the problem on "Painted Skin," "War Of The Arrows" and "Helldriver" - there's a kind of tint to those discs that doesn't look right.

Those seem to fall outside the range, though. Can you try playing/scanning them?

this one is more of a legacy thread. these issues with lionsgate titles has been known for at least 4 + years.. it's just a consolidation

the Well Go USA one is just discovered and the Criterion one seems to be easily fixable through them

war of the arrows was also done by a different pressing plant. it has an odd sheen to the disc but it looks and plays fine, no bronzing.

I think we're in danger of overreaction, though. Defective discs happen, that's nothing new. Bringing the Criterion issues to light was completely necessary. But I don't know that it's reasonable to lump in all other defective discs over the years and claim that all of a sudden the sky is falling.

Also something to keep in mind is that these threads, by their very nature, get filled up mostly by people experiencing issues with their discs. I'd wager a large majority of these discs are fine (I haven't had any issues, and I highly doubt I'm the only one).

Education about disc issues and a well measured response is perfectly fine, but let's not start going into panic mode. IMO it's both unnecessary and a tad irresponsible.

Well, we know that bronzing is not an indicator of playability for Lionsgate. They just stop working one day, w/o warning.

I have both American Psycho and Ninth Gate and they play fine. But Lionsgate needs to get off their butts and start producing more catalog titles. They have so much cool stuff they could make money but they just sit on them.

As wormraper said, this thread is really about consolidation. I've added a note to the OP that most of these discs were from 2007-2009.
