Checked my Criterions and I have 3 discs with IFPIs L021 and 10K6/7:
Pierrot le fou - bronzing / slight peeling, disc freezes
Howards End - slight discoloration (or I'm just seeing things), plays fine
Last Year at Marienbad - no visible damage, plays fine
The bad thing is all of them are OOP and I don't know if I should send the last two, especially LYAM.

Maybe we should merge the Nightbreed and Halloween thread since those releases are both done by Scream. At least that will make more sense then what is happening in this thread
Ditto. A good case of "it's working fine, so break it."

I wouldn't send anything that's not on the official list unless you check with them first.

...maybe somebody wanted to help Criterion a little if you know what I mean...

Yes, even if you're sending them BDs that are still in print, make sure you document what you actually send them. At a minimum, take a picture of everything and send them an e-mail first before you mail the discs.

The question is, how do I back up a Criterion blu-ray? My MacbookPro is 8 years old and I don't really have software to rip blu-rays here. Any idea?
I do not believe The Third Man is affected by this problem. It was pressed in 2008 and it appears the affected discs were pressed in 2009 and 2010. I checked my copy of The Third Man and it did not have the Sonopress codes which the "bronzed" discs have.

Disc looks fine. Hell, I watched it back in August and it worked fine. Bought it during the B&N sale in July.

Holy shit... so glad I checked this forum just before shipping out my discs. I was about to send Howard's End and Pierrot le fou....

Pierrot le fou plays perfectly, no bronzing. I was gonna send it in anyway.

Howard's End has the 1:52 skip error. Guess I'll hang on to it, tho.

Noticed bronzing on three others, tho... M, Seventh Seal, and Walkabout. Although Walkabout is the only title that my PS3 gives a disc error for.

(And on a side note, The Man from Nowhere plays fine)

Speaking of Well Go, I bought The Heroic Ones BD as I want to watch it properly (the HK DVD looks 'OK' but non anamorphic, ugh) I hope it will play OK

I'm currently checking again my discs and Walkabout, Pierrot le fou and Days of Heaven all passed VSO Inspector (Surface & File tests) at 100% green.

I guess I'm safe though my discs have suspicious SIDs codes.

Well, I was gonna do one shipment of the three known problem discs that show bronzing.... M, Walkabout, & 7th Seal.

I don't have any plans now to send Pierrot le fou or Howard's End.

Paris, Texas has the other pressing # on it, not the IFBI L021 like the others. So I'm not gonna ship that one, either.

Default International collectors

I'm still waiting for word on international collectors. Will they actually replace our discs and ship to [your country here] (mine being Sweden). Since they are region A titles, I wouldn't just want to send my discs without any form of announcement. I can arrange to ship them to a friend in the states, and then he'll have to send me the replacement discs to me, so technically it's the same as me buying discs not in my market.

Anyone seen any information on this or have any thoughts on the issue?

I'm sure they would ship them to you. I had to return the faulty 'White' disc from the 'Three Colors' trilogy from Ireland and it wasn't a problem. I'm posting my faulty 'Summer Hours' disc to them tomorrow.

...exactly why have WellGo been added to this discussion?...there are many other studios with dodgy early gen discs like 'Total Recall' (Lionsgate) etc etc...

If anyone has a dodgy 'M' and is worried about sending it in and Criterion not being able to replace it due to running out of stock (I assume they would offer an alternate title instead in such a scenario?), please remember there is a superior 80th Anniversary Edition bluray disc version available from Germany and it's region-free.

Sanjuro- Discs loads and movies plays. Will call Criterion to see if they will exchange disc.
