Yes, oddly enough, the volume label on Stagecoach actually does say "Bigger Than Life".

All that said, I'm not quite sure how reliable the VSO Inspector results are. Why? Well, there's this other disc (non-Criterion) I have that's unplayable: the Warner/New Line DigiBook edition of Se7en (which, unfortunately, I bought used, and never got around to trying to watch it until after the window where I could return it). It won't load at all in my Sony BDP, and PowerDVD on my laptop tells me that it can't play it because it's "corrupt". I didn't mention this before, because I have no way of knowing if it's the same issue that's affecting the Criterion titles.

Anyway, I decided to see what VSO Inspector had to say about it. I started the test a little while ago. It's already finished the sector scan, and the results were 100% good. I'm running the file test now, but I'm not seeing any errors yet. I'm not sure how the disc can be "corrupt" and unplayable and yet not produce any errors in VSO Inspector.

MIGHT?

There is absolutely, positively, without a question whatsoever that there is a problem and playback issues. They even blatantly admitted it to me on the phone earlier, not to mention the endless supply of proof and first hand accounts in this very thread. This is ridiculous.

The extent of it isn't known yet, but there most certainly are issues, period.

And yes, why are posts being deleted now as well?

Nothing has been said that isn't allowed or is even any sort of trolling or flaming.
I Agree, changing the title is misleading, and i don't see how it could be against the rule to respect the OP title, what's up?

"Might" is appropriate in the title, because not every BD of a respective title is having playback issues.

I've checked 8 titles I own mentioned in this thread and have no issues to speak of or brown discoloration. So yes "Might" is the appropriate language.

I think the original title was Criterion BDs that played and now don't, the First post mentions the titles and the chance of occurrence based on posts.

It's just a title, it doesn't mean that all the titles listed wont play.

But oh well, i guess there are some people that just skim trough the forum and might get a little crazy with such a title.

For each disc that I have that will not load in any players at all, none of them triggered any errors until the 50% mark. At that point they all just started popping with error after error and they never went beyond that 50% mark.

According to SID codes it was Sonopress, but which plants specifically we may never know, also it appears that the same plant produced good discs too, so it was probably just a bad batch at specific time, you would need to look at all your blu rays produced in 2009 or 2010 and look for SID mastering code LB41-LB50 or L021-L030.

here is the info:

Have you been paying attention? The SID codes that people have been listing (eg. L021, LB42, L323, and so forth) identify the replication plant. Someone already posted a link to a listing:

http://wiki.redump.org/index.php?tit...t_of_SID_codes

So, Criterion doesn't need to tell us what plant they used.

Yeah, I was gonna say, people here have narrowed it down to the problem source and also how to identify those discs which come from that source. Look at your d*mn discs, people!

Maybe this info should be added to the main post, many people have second pressing with L32X from those titles of 2009-2010 so looking for that they can quickly be sure their discs aren't problematic.

Because sometimes looking for browning can be a bit hard depending on the light.

Yup. I am actually surprised there have been not more people over the top against Criterion in this thread. If anything I thought it has been very constructive.

That is a good idea. I will do that.

So, Sonopress?

Not sure if someone mentioned here but, how cool it would have been that this month's newsletter would have been a hint for an upgrade of this:

Criterion title

Have to give credit to ShellOilJunior from the Criterion forum

Except that even some of us who do have a disc with the numbers that have been reported here aren't having any issues with playback or signs of browning.

So while I support adding something to the main post about the numbers, there's no need to make people automatically think their discs are defective.

I'm only reporting that most of the botched discs seem to come from Sonopress. However, as you said, some Sonopress discs are playable for now, which suggests that the botched discs may be limited to one or a few batches, not necessarily all of the batches from that factory.

Howards End freezes from approximately 01:52:00 until 02:02:00.

I had to watch the section that I missed on Dailymotion. It is a shame as the film is quite good.
