Okay, thanks again for clarifying this.
jscoggins: I wonder if maybe we could change the information on the opening post to reflect this fact? Instead of directing people to look for SID codes of LB or LO, we could direct them to look for mould codes of 10K7 or 10K6, and SID codes only if they can't read the mould codes. The above pictures from GxyExpress999 are the clearest I've seen yet, and would make a good accompaniment to this explanation. That might stop a lot of the crosstalk about which codes to look for and where, and what they mean. Reading through the thread, there's a lot of almost clear but often conflicting information on this topic. Okay, last I'll say about it. Thanks! |

I'd love to pick up American Pyscho, The Devil's Rejects and The Lincoln Lawyer but as the mob boss said in Casino about Alan King's character, "Why take a chance?" Last edited by Yojimbo68; 10-04-2014 at 08:52 PM. |

I just pulled "Stir of Echoes" (Lions Gate) off the shelf, and the disc surface is blotchy and cloudy. This has happened with DVDs (particularly the ones issued in clear cases) where evidently off-gassing from the plastic case causes a cloudy residue to form on the surface of the disc, eventually rendering it unable to play. The same oily slime is on the inside of the "Stir of Echoes" case, and many other blu-ray cases - this is the first time, though, that I've seen it hop over and "infect" a blu-ray disc. You know, these people charge us a lot of money for these things, make us sit through endless ads and warnings, then re-issue them and expect us all to buy them AGAIN. The very LEAST they can do is put them in cases that don't negatively effect the performance of the disc they're supposedly protecting. /rant |

![]() Mix of both. Some, like Basic Instinct, are totally unreadable. The Hunger Games got stuck on the layer change. |

the criterion ones I can handle.. an oops happens and Criterion is TOP NOTCH with their service. it's why I love them to death and gladly will pay their prices (in comparison to TT)... but with Well Go USA being discovered a day or so later on a HUGE percentage of their stock.... with that same pressing factory being used for dozens of other titles that have the potential to go bad.... lets say it feels rather disheartening... especially since importing them from Asia or even the cheaper U.K. will cost me 3-8 times the cost of what I payed for these wasted pieces of plastic (I honestly don't think Well Go USA will be able to do anything about it. I honestly think they will ignore us ...that is until the rest of their discs start failing and it drives them out of business... which I think is the most logical conclusion) |

1. it stopped with that title. they fixed whatever problem it was or 2. it takes time for this to show up and being that the titles listed already are part of their first batch of titles the other 2012 titles will start bronzing around next year ish.... (most likely scenario considering how many discs still use the IFPI 606 location for their printing) |

My copy of My Bloody Valentine (the 1981 original) bronzed and stopped working. I'd never heard of this at the time - at first I thought I'd spilled coffee on it, but nope, it was disc rot on the data layer. Wouldn't play or detect. Had just watched it about a month earlier.
