What are these sources? Doesn't that directly contradict Criterion's own statement released via their blog?

So people who need either or both of those replaced should probably contact Criterion to confirm one way or the other before just sending the discs in.

If you poke around the Internet a bit, people are being told on the phone that OOP titles are irreplaceable.

This makes me wonder why Criterion wants us to send them the discs but not the cases/booklets. I suppose the booklets are nice, but they'd just remind us of the discs that we don't have anymore.

after going through my not insignificant Criterion collection, the following 4 discs show sign of bronzing, in worsening order

M
For all mankind
Stagecoach
Summer Hours

would this tally with other people's findings?

WTF?!

I've checked all of my discs that were noted in the OP. Thankfully, none show any problems, and appear to play fine. One of them, "A Christmas Tale," does match the numbers in the OP, but looks good.

Still...

First mention of For All Mankind, but it falls within the date range.

Can you look for the IFPI code? Does it say 10K6 or 10K7?

While it does seem to be an issue with a replicator factory, the IFPI codes state that they are not the same for both companies.

So they did repress this disc at a Sony plant. (Presuming the code is L324).

Can you read the IFPI number on the clear plastic ring on the label side?

Mine says 10K7 so there now appears to be three variants.

Sorry...

The label-side number is illegible.

Criterion's statement really doesn't even give the slightest hint that they wouldn't replace the two listed OOP titles. It would be kinda ridiculous of them to list them along with the other titles, only to tell you after you sent your disc in that they won't be able to replace it.

He confirmed he was storing his disc in paper sleeves. Possibly a chemical reaction between the discs and the paper sleeves.

Perhaps I should invest in a bunch of binders? As much as I wish I could use the retail cases, it just isn't an option right now :/

TERRIBLE idea to merge the threads. Two completely different issues.

Exactly. People are cautioning against sending those discs in based on some unnamed source somewhere on the Internet. Okay then.
