I wouldn't send in an OOP disc unless they officially make an announcement as they did with Pierrot le Fou and Howards End. For what its worth, as I've said before, the staples on my Marienbad booklet are rusting, and I was wondering if it has something to with increased elemental exposure being in a digipak rather than a keep case. Or maybe it's the metal that was used for those specific staples. Either way, there's nothing I can do about it aside from not keeping the booklet and the disc in the same place.

You should probably remove the staples.

I got my discs back from Criterion last Monday. Walkabout was bronzed but played through, the new copy is not bronzed. Howard's End froze through two chapters towards the end, and the new copy plays fine.

My copy of Peirrot le fou seems to be fine, looks totally normal and I jumped around last night with no issues. Can anyone who has had problems with that one tell me roughly where?

well i think the problem is only with a small batch. there are probably plenty of discs around with no issues. i checkt all of my older discs and i watched a few of them just recently (like last year in marienbad) and had no problem at all.

Further confirmation that The Fifth Element Pop Art Steelbook uses the old disc:

This has probably already been asked and I've spent 10 minutes trawling back with no luck, but do those of us who live overseas have to send back our defective discs to get a replacement? And, if so, is Criterion paying our postage costs?
