Those are my choices above, though I would be open to some more series depending on the circumstances. Given the great reviews for "Prison Break", I'll probably pick up "Season One" sometime this Summer, and "Stargate: Atlantis" looks so GREAT on Sci-Fi HD, I might have to pick up some of those as well. There are several series that only had partial seasons filmed in HD like "Gilmore Girls", "Everybody Loves", "The King Of Queens", "Reba", and "Frasier" that I'd LOVE to have the HD seasons, but I'd hate to have my collection so uneven. The aboves are definate buys, I'd have to consider everything else on a case by case basis.

I'm definitely thinking that Battlestar Galactica, X-Files, Millenium, Rescue Me (Seasons 1 and 2), Lost (Seasons 1 and 2), Firefly, and Farscape should be released in Blu-Ray. I would absolutely be willing to pay the price for those particular series...and I know of at least another 2 dozen or so people in my own circle of friends who would do the same.

As much as I'd love to see some of those, B5 in particular, I doubt it will ever happen unless they are just in SD on less discs. Many older shows were mastered to video once shot on film, and so trying to put them in HD would be extremely costly/impossible. B5 had issues going to DVD because of the FX being 4:3 while the live actions was shot 16:9, making the FX look worse even on DVD. HD would be impossible. I'm guessing that's the same issue shows like Buffy, ST:TNG and others would have as well. Unless the studio wants to go back to the original negative on those shows, HD might be impossible. Newer shows is all we'll see, I'd guess, or really old ones like ST:TOS which were shot and mastered on film.

I would like to see the 2005-2008 Doctor Who Shows on Blu-Ray. I think they are shot on HD Camara's.

And Even though it may cost a lot per-season. I know the DVD sets are around 60 to 70 bucks each. It would be cool if the Blu-Rays would be less but that maybe wishful thinking.

"Doctor Who" was shot in SD, and the SFX was done at SD resolution, so aside from an UPCONVERTED release, the odds of seeing them are somewhat slim... which brings me to my NEXT comment:

Years ago, there was a rumor that FOX was going to be creating a NEW HD cable channel which had programming from the FOX vault (movies, TV series, etc...), and a lot of people mentioned several shows they were hoping to be on it. "The X-Files", "Buffy: The Vampire Slayer", and "Firefly" were among some of the most WANTED/DESIRED series. There was much discussion regarding the chances these shows would be "upgradable" to HD, and much of the discussion mirrored your comments... which are all very true.

HOWEVER, a year or two later, "Firefly" was announced as coming to Universal-HD. A lot of people were very interested in how this was possible and tuned in to view it. From my understanding, they solved the SFX (which was rendered in SD) problem by simply UPCONVERTING the SFX scenes. "Firefly" is a little simpler than some series though as the majority of the SFX scenes are space scenes, whereas some shows would require upconverting many scenes with a mixture of live action and SFX... which could possibly distract a viewer way too much.

That being said, there very well COULD be an older series or two out there that may seem impossible, but which could be converted pretty easily, but I do agree that newer HD series will most likely remain the majority of TV series on Blu-ray for a little while now...

I would go seriously in debt to own some Buffy on Blu Ray! I'd be giddy as hell. I loved Angel, too, though for some reason I could never get into Firefly.

I do think it's definitely as possible, as Firefly suggests. The only difference is that Firefly only lasted a handful of episodes so converting the entire series to HD wasn't nearly as much work as it would be for Buffy or The X-Files. And you're right... seeing the SFX scenes on Buffy in upconversion would be a little off-putting if mixed in with other scenes in true HD, especially considering all those fight sequences.
