Max, don’t you read your own freakin Insider’s Thread?
Who the heck is Burley?...........I never heard of them. 1st division, 2nd division……some club team? Are you referring to a match for the F.A. Cup or League Cup ???????? As an aside, if you ever get the chance to visit RPS…………….. http://www.4rfv.co.uk/directory/202x...Ltd-Surrey.htm Simon Burley has a film recorder (one of the very few) capable of handling 15perf IMAX and actually did test work for The Dark Knight material. If you ever get the opportunity, you might want to drop by there and talk large format film. |

![]() They must have had an off-day or Arsene played all his second string guys. P.S. And speaking of bloody disgusting and the fact that my house guests (two of whom are pre teen/young teenage girls) can’t stop yapping about Twilight since I escorted them recently to the theater to see it (along with the other females in my household)………this is all the sparkle I can add to the subject……………… http://www.bloody-disgusting.com/news/14402/ ^ More Director intended ‘enhanced’ digital processing, which just may drive those screenshot *scientists* crazy ![]() Come 2009, I can just hear it now…… ”Those sparkles look too “edgy” to me. I’m not buying this Blu-ray movie because such a blockbuster could have been reference material for me to show-off to all my many, many friends.” Last edited by Penton-Man; 12-06-2008 at 09:34 PM. Hello Penton,
Since you've seen it... Is there enough going on in the movie Twilight to interest those who are not pre teen/young teenage girls? In particular, would fans of the terrific True Blood find something similar in Twilight to enjoy? |

I would say if you are a 12 -18 y.o. girl and/or her Mom, you will think that this movie is “like, really awesome” and talk about Robert Pattinson for weeks afterwards.
If you are the male escort of such an entourage to your local Cineplex (or, in the future, with the upcoming Blu-ray home media edition –you plan to show it in your home theater to such a select audience), then think of it as doing a good deed…………like giving blood. The needle they stick you with isn’t that big and it’s all for a truly good cause. |

Disney's Enchanted also made an effective AR change from 1.85:1 to 2.40:1 when they moved from the "fairy tale land" of Andalasia to the New York early in the movie.

![]() Heard Pattinson's interview on Leno was kinda weird. He apparently looked like he just got out of bed and said something to the effect of "I don't pay attention to personal hygiene", much to the dismay of the lovely Heidi Klum ( ![]() http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xQ1J3FTbo7g |

I’ll get back to you if I can garner any insights, as those folks at EFILM are intimately cognizant of the imagery captured with a Genesis and its advantages as well as disadvantages during post. |

In the meantime, remember the online Genesis vs 35mm. film test link I posted several weeks ago……………………………….. http://media.panavision.com/Screenin...ox_Office.html Well as you can see, the results are now in which show that viewers picked the correct choice less than 50% of the time. Now I know that evaluation is hamstrung by the fact that this is a compressed test posted over the internet but, it shouldn’t affect determination of dynamic range differences too much, plus the real world demo(s) done on a BIG screen at Panavision in Woodland Hills showed similar anecdotal results when eagle eyes from the industry were queried and made comments. In other words, everyone had a tough time differentiating what was 35mm footage and what was Genesis footage. P.S. To make the demo test equitable, the 35mm footage was converted to HD resolution to match the resolution level of the Panavision Genesis and the shoot-out was digitally projected……… which, come to think of it, actually probably makes the test more applicable to Blu-ray movie watchers anyway, since most of us see everything ultimately at 1080p at home. |

The Genesis system does a decent job as long as the shooting is done in well lighted situations. The camera struggles in lower light situations and is much more prone to exhibiting a video-ish look in those situations. Any rapid movement or action in the frame in low light will be affected with a smearing or ghosting effect not much different from what you would see with a low priced LCD-TV.
One good example to watch in Get Smart is a scene shot at or just past dusk featuring Maxwell Smart (Steve Carell) and Agent 99 (Anne Hathaway). In this scene Agent 99 gets her point across that Maxwell Smart isn't ready to be a field agent -she takes away his Sig Sauer P226, then stuffs it pack into his pants. Smart tries to show off some Karate, gets punched in the face and then slapped. It's a funny scene. But the image quality is bad and easily identifiable as video-sourced. Numerous other scenes in Get Smart have the same problem. This sort of issue isn't confined to the Panavision Genesis system alone. Collateral and Miami Vice were both plagued by the issues I describe. Movies like Apocalypto and The Lookout did a better job of showing off the Panavision Genesis than Get Smart -although I can point to specific scenes in those movies were that dreaded video look reveals itself. |
