just wanted to let everyone know that if you go to the setup menu on ratatouille there is a calibration wizard.

does rats have the movie showcase feature?

what settings does the calibration include? i'd pick up Rat if it's a decent calibration wizard.

it had aspect ratio, brightness, contrast, gamma, hue, and the audio, it is basic but better than the one sony has, that gives no directions or anything, just images, this one is like a the earlier thx ones on the pixar releases

thanks, i'm placing order. the sony patterns are more test patterns than calibration screens, the only thing you can really calibrate is brightness using the bottom left black bars.

You can do hue and saturation if you have a blue filter, which you still need on the pixar calibration screens. Also you can do conversion too if your set needs it

I thought it was a red filter for some reason...

Anyway, for me, the brightness they wanted it at was about 2 notches too high. It ends up brightning the picture up so much that black portions of the picture end up having little pixels in them. It's not really like macroblocking, but kind of the same...

EDIT: After rechecking, the brightness should actually be about right, I thought it wasn't displaying one of the bars when it actually was so the set up should be good. www.disneydvd.com/setup isn't working though...

i have the blue filter from the Avia setup DVD.

I'm wondering how good these things are. I used Avia just about 2 weeks ago and my brightness / contrast settings were off according to the cali-Rat-tion patterns.

i dunno, i'd go with the BD calibration for BD discs.
