Umm first off the article does not say he was driving drunk it said he had a DUI in 2014 which we all knew about it was during the summer. He got pulled in for a drug test and had alcohol in his system and he got popped for it. Court also was not the one who insisted on this is was the NFL.

It was in his DUI treatment plan that he couldn't drink. Given his history, it's very hard to give him the benefit of the doubt. This could have all been avoided if he didn't get a DUI to begin with.

I'm fairly sure no court imposed such a rule on him. He didn't violate the law. Apparently just the NFL's archaic drug testing rule.

Are you serious? He violated his parole which is against the law.
When the court says you can't drink, you can't drink.
How are people not understanding this?

Do you have a source that says he violated his parole? I mean you realize NFL rules aren't the same as the U.S. judicial system... don't you?

But there's nothing to indicate he was driving here. Drinking responsibly shouldn't get you fired or suspended. Especially for a full year.

The courts DIDNT say he couldn't drink the NFL imposed this on him what are you not understanding. He violated NO LAWS, the judicial system did not haul him in for court imposed mandated drug testing the NFL did.

According to this article, and you can search for court records if you like, he had ONE YEAR of unsupervised probation back in 9/2014:

http://www.foxnews.com/sports/2014/0...guilty-in-dwi/

Since it was an alcohol releated crime, what is he not supposed to be doing? Drinking?
We'll know for sure, if a warrant is put out for his arrest for violating probation.

It says nothing about him not being allowed to drink. I would assume he would need to drink and drive again to violate probation. I know a few people on probation for DUI's. None of them are barred from drinking.

Even if Gordon's probation specifically said he cannot drink alcohol I have a hard time believing this failed NFL test is admissible in a court of law.

I used to be a fan of his even when he was a dick to children just seeking an autograph. You are experiencing Denial. That is the first stage. How about when the Braves had Gary Sheffield? Not known then was his dabbling with PED's, but he was someone that admitted to intentionally committing errors to get traded out of Milwaukee. Where does that rate?

No team is perfect, and didn't someone in sports say "if you ain't cheating, then you ain't trying."? All sports have cheats. When it is your teams turn, I expect to hear you singing there praises just like Pats fans do. I don't hear any players calling out others where suspected cheating has occurred till they are retired players...Mark Brunell and all others have been ex-players. As far as I know, no player in the league has come out and said anything either way.

Just let the Pats fans enjoy there tainted legacy. That's what they will be remembered for.

Uhm...drinking and driving is against the law, when over the limit...obviously. I'm pretty sure that was a given. The only probation I can think of is not to drink - at all! I guess we would have to see what North Carolina's laws are regarding this sort of crime.
Again, I'm sure we'll find out as the story evolves.

Now they're saying 10 of the 11 balls were closer to 1 PSI under 12.5 The only one that was 2 pounds under was the one the Colts intercepted.

Goodell has to go after this latest blunder. Is this some sting op gone wrong or just incompetence? Anyway, he's not protecting the shield.

Yes, obviously a DUI is illegal regardless, probation or not. I meant there are enhanced penalties for a DUI for violating your probation.

Generally the act of merely drinking alcohol isn't a probation violation. It might vary by state but I doubt it's the case in many localities. And even if it is Gordon didn't fail a probation drug test, just an NFL drug test. I can't imagine any court of law admitting such a test.

Probation, I believe, varies only from Judge to Judge. The judge is the one that decides, based on your record, evidence, testimony...yadda...what needs to be done to ensure that if they don't send you to jail you won't commit this crime again? This can be done as Probation Before Judgement, or in Gordon's case: a Suspended Sentence. Which means that if he violates probation, whatever that sentence would've done to him, now CAN be done to him.
Mike Florio, from PFT, being a lawyer will probably write about this...assuming that it comes into play.

OMFG No Wonder Lynch hates the NFL... Hey Lynch were gonna fine you 20k per crotch grab and dock your team 15 yds on a personal penalty... but screw it we can make money off this so its all good... NFL NOW SELLING LYNCH CROTCH GRAB PICS WTF!?!

Quote:
The NFL is about that business, boss.

After fining Marshawn Lynch $20K for grabbing his crotch during a game, the NFL has decided to commemorate that moment. People can now buy a plaque that features the Seahawks running back making that exact gesture. The league is basically saying, "Don't do that anymore, but since you did we're going to make money off of it." The fine must not have been enough.

Lynch has been warned ahead of time that performing the obscene gesture in the Super Bowl will quickly get the Seahawks a 15-yard penalty, but until then the NFL will be happy to see the profits from this.
