That $16 million doesn't mean much to me. If it keeps Shady happy, then great. All I care about is that the deal is cap friendly for the first couple years.

He won't see it, but his bonus amounts for those last 2 years will stay on the books.

There's a big difference between being the #2 corner in Seattle's defense and the #1 corner in Philly's defense. Just look at Brandon Carr who looked outstanding in KC and now looks serviceable in Dallas.

Water is wet
Hindsight is 20/20

As is the case with any free agent: we...shall....see.

Also Maxwell did a pretty good job against some big name WR's down the stretch as other Seattle DB's were injured.
For now, it's the best signing Philly could make. With McCourty being the 2nd best, but I don't see that happening.

McCourty is either going to take a discount to stay with NE and compete for another ring or break someone else's cap. Yeah he's not worth the $ it would take to get him away from Belicheat.

I agree with the first part, and think he will stay with NE, but I don't know if I agree with the 2nd part. With the league making so many rule changes to favor the passing game, quality DBs might be worth a little extra money.
After QB, to me, it seems like the hardest position to draft really well is DB.
Trust me, as a Philly fan, with all the trainwrecks we've had to endure after Brian Dawkins left, I'm well versed on not having quality guys at any of those DB positions. It's, basically, like jamming a rusty nail in the eye....sideways!

A lot of McCourty's destination depends on where Revis ends up. It will be tough for New England to get them both.

This was in the pipeline, and I'm glad Philly is bringing him in. Gore will make a great change of pace back, and won't have to be "the guy". Definitely a good option to cure our ailing RZ rush TDs that McCoy always seemed to have problems with.

If Philly can land Jason Worilds from Pit, this off season will have been a huge success!

Brandon Graham>Jason Worilds but if I were Kelly I'd take both if I could pull it off. Polk, Sproles and Gore is all right but Shady is better than all 3 put together.

LOL, no way! Brandom Graham has been, for the most, part a major let down in Philly. Worilds is a total beast(my opinion obviously), and much faster going east-west. I think it's a reach, and if Alonso regains his RoY form, the point might be moot. Either way, I just hope that bum Casey Matthews is gone!
Nah, McCoy needs a perfect O-Line for a full 16 games. The last 2 years proved that. McCoy couldn't make things happen on a consistant basis, and struggled in the RZ(or against any stacked box). Don't need to pay one guy $12mil for that. Especially with Chip's up-tempo offense, the 3-pronged attack of Polk/Sproles/Gore will be keeping opposing defenese on their heels!

Nah, McCoy needs a perfect O-Line for a full 16 games. The last 2 years proved that. McCoy couldn't make things happen on a consistant basis, and struggled in the RZ(or against any stacked box). McCoy had the 2nd most yards rushing in the NFL after September last year behind only DeMarco Murray. Still not sure why Murray is headed to Jacksonville, sure it's more $ but in the long run Jacksonville will probably never be competitive. Take a $7.5 million per season contract from Dallas with lots of incentives for say 1400+ yards, not getting hurt and fumbling 4- times per season. He said winning is a factor, prove it. Jacksonville is going to be better yes but even with a new bunch running the team and in a division with two teams that are above average, Jacksonville won't be a contender for at least 3-4 seasons, even if then. All that said, Murray is 27 and coming off a 400+ touch season so now is his best chance to grab $ and run so if that's what he wants to do, I guess we should draft a RB in the first 2 rounds and say hasta la juego.

To be fair to Ndamukong Suh, Haynesworthless was even worse scum than Suh is and always had motivation problems. The biggest issue I have with overpaying a DT is they already tend to have issues staying in good enough shape to be effective for 40+ snaps a game, hand them a big fat check and they might decide that other 4 donuts or 2nd steak is all right after all.
