Yeah, I don't get ditching McCoy for Murray even slightly.

I mean, yes the guaranteed money is a few million less. But for a worse player (IMO) with a history of injury and a ridiculous workload last year.

I don't see how someone can call that a "savvy deal" by the Eagles. I expected if the Eagles did sign him it would be at like, half price. Not basically equivalent price.

I call it stupid, and predict that Murray's going to tank hard with the Eagles.

What is it with you and Chip Kelly? You sound like a spurned lover.
Most coaches, when they inherit a team, will bring in "their guys". Chip is just doing it much faster than other coaches have. Perhaps he's on to something?
McCoy, while younger, has had an incredible amount of work during his time with Philly so the durability issue is, at best, a push.
I'm looking at this with my "GM hat" on... As I always look at things in the NFL.

This isn't Madden or fantasy football. You can't just make crazy moves non-stop and expect it to work.

Like I said, Murray is the one positive signing... I just hope he doesn't gut the OL.

We know Chip has a plan, but he's pretty crazy. It sounds like he is genuinely moving forward with Bradford as the starting QB. Hey, if Bradford stays healthy, things may work out. But even when healthy, I didn't think he was that great. He was having a very good year in 2013 before the first ACL though.

Bitter Dallas fan?

Both Murray and McCoy have had about the same workload, to this point. So that's a push.
They are pretty much the same in terms of productivity, again push.
McCoy would've cost $4mil more this season, advantage Murray signing.
PLUS we get Kiko Alonso to fill a position of need.

Barring injury, and that can be said about any player at any time, this is a great deal for Philly.
Of course I expect fans of the other 31 teams to think it's a bad deal. That, in/of itself, is more proof it's a great deal.

I was pretty passionate about how bad the Cowboys were gonna be before the start of last season. Never have I been THAT wrong before.

We'll see if another NFC East team can prove me wrong once again.

At the end of the day, even if you guys suck, at least you're not the Titans.

Except Murray has only played one season in his career fully healthy and that was last year. Heck the only time he was fully healthy was since high school. Cowboys are smart by not paying a guy based off of one season. Good luck with all your injury prone players. Especially now that Mathis is on the trading block.

In Chip we trust!
We are all in on Kelly, so we'll really see what happens after FA, then the draft, then training camp and then the start of the season.
We've got a solid RB rotation, and weakened a division rival in the process.
I'm happy.

Any player, at any moment, is an injury risk.
Thankfully guys are healing faster than ever due to medical science advancements.

Except most of them aren't as susceptible to them as Murray. Btw Bradford still hasn't even healed from his second consecutive acl tear that he suffered on the same ligament

Ah, just saw your locale.
I'll bet a few months ago I bet you were drooling over Murray and thinking last year was "the year". My how times change.

So if they are effectively equivalent, WHY would you get rid of one just to bring in the other?

And ROFL on the belief that if all other teams thinks its a bad thing it's proof it is a great deal. I bet all 31 other teams thinking taking Manziel or Tebow in the first round meant that was a great pick, right?

I have to laugh at cocky Eagles fans though. All those championships must seriously bolster your opinion of yourself.

Well Dallas fans can pick up right where they left off: crying! LOL!
Again, we saved money AND got another player in a position of need AND weakend a division rival.
Sounds like a pretty good deal to me.

BTW, have fun with that Desmond Bryant experiment. I'm sure he's going to be a real happy camper if the tag stays.

Rats! Rahim Moore going to Houston.
Was hoping Philly could land him to go with Malcom Jenkins! Ah well.

Except were not crying. I'm happy we didn't overpay him based off one season. Sure it sucks he's gone but losing him won't weaken us by that much, are you forgetting about our OLine? Our main disadvantage is on defense, which we can now use the money we would've on Murray to sign 1 or 2 defensive guys and then draft one of the numerous backs. Jerry played this one smart for once

I think Dallas can easily draft and sign a FA RB and be great. You're right, defense is key. I rather them put together a great defense then worry about a running back. The Offense is set.

Except the Eagles didn't save much money. McCoy was scheduled to count $11.6 million against the cap in 2015. Now they're carrying $3.4 million in dead money on McCoy plus whatever Murray's cap hit is. At best they're probably saving a couple million on this year's cap. In 2016 McCoy was scheduled to have a cap hit of $8.85 million and in 2017 he was scheduled to have a cap hit of $7.85 million. Murray's future cap hits are nearly certain to exceed that on a deal that averages $8.4 million. They also got rid of a running back with no guaranteed money remaining and replaced him with one with $21 million guaranteed. This deal could look very bad if Murray gets hurt, like he did each of his first 3 years in the NFL plus numerous times in college.
