holy sh!t.....did that just happen??

as far as the facemask at the end.....the ref behind the QB threw the flag, he saw Rodgers' head twist around.

even Mike Carey said it was a valid call......but what does he know compared to the guys on this forum??

The refs botched it, flat out. Another game ending which isn't really on the players.

Change the rules, be able to challenge everything, this call is reversed.

8 defensive backs on 5 receivers and none of them followed Rodgers, who had been killing them all night. Still not sure how you lose him, especially since he's the tallest receiver on the field. Oh well, Green Bay probably saved their season, at least for tonight.

Mike Carey is wrong.

Rule, straight from the NFL rulebook:

Quote:
No player shall twist, turn, or pull the facemask of an opponent in any direction.
I dare you to point out any of that on that play. If you can get over your Packer-ness for a second there's no way you can claim it was a good call.

Exactly. He got enough to make the call valid.

Most controversial Packers ending since the Fail Mary against Seattle, although I doubt Green Bay will make it out of the wild card round even if they get there.

I will say this, the GB WRs walled off the DET CBs handily in the end zone. They increased their chances of getting a tip ball if it came to that.

No he bloody well did not. I can't believe there are people arguing this as a good call. And I'm blown away that someone like Mike Carey is supporting it. But I guess the whole argument is Refs don't really know the rules.

Carey himself said he got enough of the facemask to justify the call.

don't even talk to me about blown/missed/bullsh!t calls.......I watched the fail-mary live as it happened.

one just happened to go our way for once.

it was ugly, but a win is a win.

And I can't believe people think it is a bad call. He clearly got the face mask.

Yeah, but any long time Lions fan knew what was coming, penalty or not. We've seen this scenario play out numerous times. The Lions always seem to find a way to lose in the most spectacular ways.

Now hopefully they just lose out, improve draft position, and get the GM and coaching staff fired. But they won't. They'll win some more meaningless games.

I'd love to have the success you've had, as bad as that sounds.

Trivia: the Lions have won one playoff game since 1957.

Two play-off wins in 20 years isn't much better, thanks Jerry! You sure make life as a Cowboys fan really fun!

It's weird to think that the Lions lost the game even though they held the lead for the entirety of the game.

Looks to me like he touched it and then jerked A-Rod around by the shoulder pad, which isn't a penalty.

It's still an illegal blow to the head.
Game can't end on a defensive penalty.
Lions blew it. Aaron Rodgers discount double-checked 'em to end their season.

Packers fans think that was a legit good call

Seriously that's a terrible call. Plays like that need to be challengeable like the CFL. It's insane how many times this has happened with the refs this year.
