Some of those schools cost up to $100,000 or more in tuition alone, I'd say that's worth something. Plus they get to be BMOC, which I'm sure helps with the ladies.

College football is an amateur sport. Amateurism does not get rewarded with a paycheck

Why not just play these games in the higher seed's home stadium? Money maybe? Tradition? The inclusion of 5,384 brand named new bowls kind of waters down the whole tradition thing.
Again, I enjoy college football...but to me, money has influenced much of the decision making.

Sorry to derail the thread with CFB talk. It seems that you don't watch enough CFB to understand that NO team plays at their home stadium in any bowl game.
All bowl games are played at neutral sites. Yes, the Rose Bowl is only 13 miles from USC, but the Big10/Pac12 Rose Bowl game is always held there unless a National Championship game is being held there.

[Show spoiler]I'm just a football fanatic on all levels. High School football is far and away my favorite. I'm from Long Beach, so I've been to dozens of Poly High School games in the last 25 years. I remember when Desean Jackson replaced Derrick Jones as the #1 receiver on the team. I watched all of Desean's high school games.

I agree, for the folks that actually pursue an education with actual classes that make you crack a book. Not "basket weaving", or the like, that some star atheletes have cruised by on, over the years.

It is pretty sad to hear some of these guys doing interviews, sometimes.
Makes you wonder how they even memorize the playbook! Maybe that's why certain teams use cue cards with pictures on them to call plays.

We honestly drafted Cook to be a trade chip since he was projected to go much higher. Looks like we need to hang onto him as our #2.
