Let's not lose site of the facts. Both sides are to blame here: The Owner and the folks who voted in November.
I get it, billionaire owners who are asking for tax payer money(the proposal was to raise hotel bed tax which theoretically tourists pay, not residents). Well they didn't become billionaires by making bad investments.
Tax payers who aren't even football fans are forced to pay for a stadium.
But this is how a lot of the stadium deals work these days.

So in short, the good folks of San Diego cast their vote, won't have to fund a new stadium but will now lose the NFL team.

But citizens, and tourists, should not have to be penalized. NFL can do as they sit on mountains of millions - where are they? Where is Spanos?

Oh wow, there's like ZERO room there for a stadium there!

I'm sorry Rickah, I understand your point but it just doesn't cover everything that transpired here. The infrastructure for a stadium is already here @ Qualcomm stadium, the whole Mission Valley area was built around that stadium to include transportation to & from the stadium, businesses & even homes. The City proposed a plan to Spanos to build a BRAND NEW stadium on the site of Qualcomm & the City would have paid for it with no issues. Spanos rejected that plan immediately & countered with the Downtown location which was completely unfeasible due to location.

Wish the NFL could impose a massive tax/fee of some sort on teams that relocate to discourage this sort of nonsense. How is it fair that an owner can just up and move their team to a much larger market, effectively doubling the franchise value with the owner not paying a dime?

Citizens and ultimately tourists are penalized when any building of this scale is built. Lol! Not just NFL stadiums.
The money has to come from somewhere.
If the owner 100% funds the stadium then he would be blasted for raising ticket price, parking prices, and every thing else they could attach a fee.

Dont get me wrong, I'm not saying what owners are doing it ideal, but it's just the way stadium funding is done these days, and that it takes two to make these deal work: the owner and the citizens.

No one is disputing that fact Rickah, the City was ready to pay a portion of the costs for the new stadium but Spanos wanted us to pay for the whole damn thing!

Rarely are these stadium deals neat and tidy, I agree.
Personally I think it's a crappy outcome, but I'm looking at the situation from both sides. Spanos is the owner! It's his business, he pays a lot of expenses to run his business. Doesn't he get a say in where he can run his business?

Again, it's a crappy situation but all parties lose out in situations like this.

i like Jerry because he's a bold mofo that doesn't care about this or that. Remember how everyone hated him in 1990? They worshiped him 3 years later. He's got some Al Davis qualities to him both good and bad (minus the football genius stuff). He definitely is willing to spend his cash.

I can see how someone might put a certain spin on things, but I feel like when the owners pay for the stadium it works out best since ultimately those costs are passed on to the people who truly wanted the stadium and show it by attending games.

I agree, but what if fans, for whatever reason, stop attending games?
There is no doubt that these stadium deals are always pretty murky and probably piss off a lot of people, but I guess that's just the cost of doing business.

I guess the one lone bright spot for any other old & aging stadiums that will prompt their owners to force the city to build or bolt, is they can't use Los Angeles as leverage.

3 of those 5 QB are former Texans. 15 years later and we are still looking for a QB.

Schaub did have a few good years here though until he got pick-6 disease.

Jeff Lurie was one of those owners that threatened to move to LA, before the Linc was built.
