Maybe. He's going to need to find a QB that can run his system.

Word is he likes Cousins a lot. No guarantee the Redskins allow that to happen though.

He'll leave for the right offer, nobody likes the franchise tag.

Redskins have to franchise Cousins if they can't get a long-term deal done, even at $24 million. There's just no quality options out there. At best you get a short-term answer like Jay Cutler or Tony Romo (and I don't think Romo would go to an NFC East team even if he's released), an unproven player like Mike Glennon, or a rookie in a draft that's generally regarded as being a poor QB draft.

They could always slap him with the nonexclusive tag if they aren't convinced he's the longterm answer. Just in case.

Well, considering how adverse Marshawn has always been to fame (seems to have serious anxiety issues) he probably feels more relaxed somewhere where nobody knows who he is.

Unless there's a trade at #1 Cleveland is likely to draft Myles, leaving San Francisco to pick whichever QB they want. Trubisky seems the most likely, but possibly Kizer.

Seeing as Lynch and Shanahan seem to be on long leashes, I would go Kizer. He needs time, but he has all the tools.

The timing by Devonta Freeman's agent could be a little better. It's days before the Super Bowl. Focus on the game.

I think the Canes Kaaya may be a sleeper pick at QB. They could always draft Garrett #1 then someone like Kaaya in round 2 or 3.

Folks tweeting in uproar over the newly implemented immigration travel ban are using the hashtag #RiseUp and getting a completely unrelated Falcons emoji.

I'm hoping the 49ers get him.

Devonta Freeman might hold out if he doesn't get paid.

Falcons would move on. They like Coleman more, and they could just pick up another RB for the system.

This and the Romo situation, to me, are two of the more exciting off season moves.
I'm convinced McCloughan just doesn't like this guy for whatever reason. I'm not saying Cousins is the next Brady, but the guy had a pretty good season if you look past the win/loss record. Right off the bat, the guy scored the go ahead TD against Detroit with a minute to play. It's not his job to play defense. Also Cousins wasn't missing FGs on OT against Cincy which resulted in a tie. If those are wins the Redskins are in the playoffs.
I'm guessing McCloughan has his eye on someone else. There's no way the Washington front office, as comical as it's been over the years, could think ~$20mil for starting QB is outrageous. That's just the going rate for a proven starter not on a rookie deal.

Just look to Baltimore for proof that sinking >$20 mill a year on a slightly above average QB (at best) is a terrible idea. Flacco makes about 20% of the Ravens total team cap number. Looks like Cousins will account for a similar % of the Redskins team salary.
