This is just... weird. Seems like Gilmore decided to name his new born baby after Tom Brady's wife.

Quote:
Arriving home after signing a five-year, $65 million contract with the New England Patriots last Friday, cornerback Stephon Gilmore witnessed the birth of his daughter 45 minutes later. Then he and his wife Gabrielle chose the baby's name: Gisele.

If the Jets resign Fitz they should have to forfeit every game of the season and just have to sit out the year. So they can think about what they just did!

We get Daniel as an insurance policy for the rookie, that the franchise is heavily banking on....small price to pay, especially when you take the average cost of both QBs.
The plan changed when Bradford got traded, as it was too good to pass up. Wentz was basically thrown to the wolves with zero prep, and he showed some promise. Thusly Daniel became expendable.
Unlike some teams, Philly wanted to "Do Right" and released Daniel asap, as no trade was going to happen, and if the offset was worked out they might save a few dollars of this year's cap.
How is this bad again?
I have no issue with cutting him. That's what they should do. I'm talking strictly about the signing. It was bad. It was bad when it went down, and it's certainly bad now.

I don't know how you aren't capable of admitting when the Eagles make a bad signing. I admit when the Titans do ALL the time.

Are the Eagles in dire shape? They went 7-9, in one of the toughest divisions, with a rookie QB that had absolutely zero prep due preseason injury and a rookie HC. They made some solid free agent moves and have restocked their draft picks for the upcoming draft. Looks pretty promising to me!

I'm just glad I'm so firmly lodged in your head! That's just a bonus right there.
The Titans and whatever they do barely even registers on my radar, because they have been largely irrelevant. I'm guessing you, on some level, feel the same because it would explain why you're overly critical on....everything.

Terrific signing. Multiple All-Pro teams and still a young guy. Best kick returner in the league.
He'll be our third receiver and he finally has a real QB. His main draw was obviously special teams tho

Derek Carr took the man out to dinner and he signed right after. Need Derek and Khalil to take Hightower to dinner next

Now that the details of Tyrods deal are out, he really did us a favor. He certainly could have done better than that on the open market. Loyal and team first guy for sure.

According to PFT's Mike Florio, the Titans offered to swap first-round picks -- No. 5 for No. 11 -- and a third-round pick to the Saints in exchange for Brandin Cooks.
Appearing on 104.5 The Zone in Nashville on Monday, Titans GM Jon Robinson revealed he never offered the No. 18 pick for Cooks, the second of two first-rounders the Titans own. The No. 5 selection is via the Rams. If Tennessee truly offered a swap of first-rounders that high in the draft in addition to a three, it's surprising New Orleans didn't bite at that proposal over the Patriots' No. 32 pick and a third it ultimately accepted in exchange for Cooks last Friday. This would indicate the Titans remain in the market for a playmaking outside receiver.

Jets trying to lure in LB Dont'a Hightower.... with cupcakes?

Dont’a Hightower would fill a major need for the Jets – particularly if they cut David Harris – which is exactly why they’ve expressed interest in him. They hosted him for a visit on Sunday, and they pulled out all the stops. Jets gear, cupcakes, birthday wishes. All of it.

“They sent his mother Jets merchandise, they brought him out to dinner last night and had cupcakes given to him on his birthday,” Adam Schefter said on ESPN. “They had ‘Happy Birthday Dont’a Hightower’ on all the screens inside the Jets training facility.”

The cupcake thing was for sure lame, but aside from that, pretty much every team that's hosting him on his little free agent tour is keenly aware that he will most likely be headed back to NE.

Malcolm Butler is visiting the Saints today. There's speculation that if the Saints and Butler agree to a deal the Patriots could agree to trade him for the #32 pick the Patriots gave the Saints in the Brandin Cooks deal.

No way is Malcolm Butler worth a first round pick. The Saints wouldbe stupid to give it up.

Pro Football Focus graded Butler as the 3rd best coverage cornerback and 4th best overall cornerback in the NFL last season. Saints GM Mickey Loomis probably needs to make the playoffs this season to keep his job and there's a lot better chance of that happening with a Second-team All-Pro than with a rookie.

Don't underestimate the stupidity level of some GMs in the NFL. But if I were the Saints I would wait it out, have Butler play out his contract this year with the Pats and make a deal straight with him next year.

Chief Football Strategist here. I say New Orleans should not trade for Butler. They have two picks in the 1st round and another good spot in the 2nd round. Lots of CB's to be taken. I wouldn't trade for a CB here when I can go younger and cheaper.
