San Francisco 49ers CB Tramaine Brock Arrested For Felony Domestic Violence

This afternoon, Santa Clara, Calif., police announced that San Francisco 49ers cornerback Tramaine Brock has been arrested for felony domestic violence and booked into Santa Clara County Jail. Per their press release, officers went to a home yesterday near the 49ers’ stadium and arrested Brock after they’d “learned that an adult female had visible injuries and was in a dating relationship with the male suspect.”

Lt. Dan Moreno said officers got a report of domestic violence around 9:35 p.m. PST and arrested Brock about 1:30 a.m. Moreno described the victim’s injuries as minor and not requiring medical attention. No other information about what happened that night was released. According to online jail records, Brock was still in jail this afternoon.

Participants in arm wrestling event in Vegas could face NFL fines

The NFL is looking into an arm wrestling contest at the MGM Grand casino in Las Vegas that reportedly featured more than 30 current and former players, including Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker James Harrison and retired running back Marshawn Lynch.

NFL spokesman Brian McCarthy told ESPN on Sunday that the league just became aware of The Pro Football Arm Wrestling Championship and will be looking into it further.

Participating players could be in violation of the league's gambling policy and may face fines. League personnel are prohibited from making promotional appearances at casinos or other gambling-related establishments.

"Had we been asked in advance if this was acceptable, we would have indicated that it was in direct violation of the gambling policy," Joe Lockhart, NFL vice president of communications, told USA Today Sports, which first reported the league's concern over the event. "No one sought pre-approval."

The casino issue in Vegas is overblown. There's casinos all over the place now. The new Rams/Chargers stadium is being built directly next door to a casino, which will make it the 6th NFL stadium within a mile of a casino. Another 13 stadiums are within 1-20 miles of a casino, and all but 6 stadiums are within 40 miles of a casino. The fact that Vegas casinos accept betting on sporting events is fairly irrelevant because players aren't going to be dumb enough to step foot in a sportsbook.

Supposedly the league is hoping to announce the schedule sometime next week, but it all depends when the people finish making the schedule. Last year it was released on April 14, and in 2014 and 2015 it was released on April 23. They usually only give about a day's notice before it's released.

The past few days I've been checking to see if the NFL schedule has been released at least twice a day since I know the schedule usually comes out in April. Need to plan ahead!

Regular season sched always out on a tue/wed/thu & not on draft wk so should be 4/18 4/19 or 4/20.

Preseason sched is out - romos 1st game 8/25 or 8/26.
