Sort of, it's now up to each state whether they want legalized sports gambling. New Jersey (the plaintiff in the lawsuit) will be the first to legalize gambling, and Mississippi, Delaware, New York, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia are expected to legalize it fairly quickly as well. Other states will follow suit within the next couple years, but some states that are fairly anti-gambling (like Utah and numerous southern states) could keep it illegal.

Florida definitely won't legalize it. Far too many seniors here who despise gambling. Any time we've put gambling, aside from the lottery on referendum ballots they fail miserably. It's a shame because it would be a boon to our state economy.

I doubt any really southern state minus Mississippi will pass it.

What’s the rationale for being okay with lottery gambling, but not sports betting?

In a statement, the NFL called on Congress "to enact a core regulatory framework for legalized sports betting."

In a 7-2 decision handed down on Monday, the Supreme Court struck down the 1992 federal ban on sports gambling. "The NFL's long-standing and unwavering commitment to protecting the integrity of our game remains absolute," the league said in a statement following the ruling. "We also will work closely with our clubs to ensure that any state efforts that move forward in the meantime protect our fans and the integrity of our game." Considering how much was legally and illegally bet on the NFL already -- $4.76 billion on the 2018 Super Bowl alone according to the American Gaming Association -- the league's argument that legalized betting would affect the integrity of their game is highly spurious. Instead of putting up barriers, the league should be paving the way for legalized sports betting and the significant bump in interest and ratings it would bring.

The state has complete control over the lottery and it's been around for so long there aren't any powerful interests against it.
On the other hand a whole lot of powerful political interests align against other types of gambling in Florida. The biggest is Disney and the other theme parks who oppose any expansion of casinos because they want to keep Florida "family friendly." That's code word for not wanting competition eating away at their tourism dollars.

Another weird twist is that dog racing is still a form of gambling all over Florida and thanks to a loophole in state law greyhound tracks can also have high stakes poker rooms. Horse race gambling is also allowed. So in effect we already have a lot of gambling outside of the lottery. Although a ban on dog racing is on the ballot this year and likely to pass, not for gambling reasons but because it's becoming increasingly socially unacceptable to force dogs to race, often causing them injuries and death. Dog racing is banned in the vast majority of states nowadays.

Business as usual.
Just hope this means taxes will go down with all this new revenue stream going to Fed.

Dez isn't coming to GB. He's still pissed about the catch/no catch thing from a few years ago.

Too bad, as most of his know that Dallas should not have even been playing in that game.

Dez should have taken the Ravens offer (supposedly similar to the three-year, $21 million deal Michael Crabtree signed) but he was under the impression that he could get a big one-year deal and then try and parlay that into a big multi-year deal. That clearly hasn't been the case so at this point he should just try and figure out where he thinks he could have the best season and sign a fairly cheap deal. He could also choose to wait to sign until August in case a team has an injury and gets desperate.

Dez seriously overestimated his market.

You mean the government will ease up on one revenue stream just because another one opened? What is this fantasy you speak of

Thurman Thomas will be the third Bill to have his number officially retired, joining Jim Kelly and Bruce Smith. Will take place during halftime of the Monday, October 29th night game against the Patriots.

I can't believe his number wasn't already officially retired. I would have thought that would have happened a decade ago.

FANTASTIC read on the NYJ's 3-year pursuit of Darnold as their (hopefully) franchise QB:
