I blame the media. They were saying as if Bell invented a new way to run the football. In reality the offensive line was blocking long enough for him to pick and choose which hole to go through.

RB's has to get theirs or they never will. Shelf life too short. 4-5 years on rookie deal, then another 1-2 on tag, and then they're almost done by that point and lucky to get a big contract.

Totally agree here. Yes, he's an excellent RB, but you stick him elsewhere, behind a lesser OL and I'm not entirely sure that he has that kinda time to be a "patient" runner. But then again, who knows...if the OL knows they have Bell running behind them, perhaps that alone wills them to sustain blocks longer. It's an interesting debate/experiment.

He is still a top 3 back in the league o-line or not, his catching ability alone separates him from 90% of all NFL backs. After seeing what holding out did for Mack and Beckham who can blame him for trying to get paid.

And i cant beleive his teammates brought their anger to the media though, i think Tomlin needs to get control of his locker room and squash this problem before it gets worse. I think the main sticking point here is the Steelers just do not have the cap space to make him the top paid back in the league.

Should not be brought to the media though and that is Tomlins fault for not putting a muzzle on the entire team with talking about it. No good will come from teamates ripping other teamates about contract issues.

I think the reason the Steelers players are frustrated is because Bell can't get more money from the Steelers. The deadline for franchise tag players to sign a long-term deal was July 16 and once that deadline passed the belief was Bell would return around Labor Day. At the very least Bell should have discussed his plans with some of the Steelers players so they weren't blindsided by his absence.
