Chargers tight end Antonio Gates’ home burglarized with wife, kids at home

While Los Angeles Chargers tight end Antonio Gates was away in Pittsburgh for last Sunday night’s game against the Pittsburgh Steelers, his San Fernando Valley home was broken in to by burglars.

Though Gates himself was not home at the time, his wife, Sasha, and two kids were inside the home, though the burglars and family never came into contact.

Gates confirmed the break-in, first reported by TMZ, to Eric Williams of ESPN.com. Surveillance cameras showed the suspects taking a garbage bag full of valuable items from his garage.

“All that stuff didn’t really didn’t matter to me, to be honest with you,” Gates said. “I was just so concerned with my kids.”

Chargers safety Derwin James was robbed at gunpoint in June in Hollywood. Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Yasiel Puig, L.A. Rams wide receiver Robert Woods and Rihanna have also been burglarized in the greater Los Angeles area.

What was Kaep’s stat line his final season? Hmm....
Yes the Niners could re-sign Kaep since he is an unrestricted FA but there is no reason to as Mullens and Beathard are serviceable backups. Although I hate the concept of tanking, at this point in the season, with their record they just need to balance putting some effort on the field while kinda, sorta maintaining draft position. I would love for them to get Bosa. Their D needs a lot of shoring up and he looks like the type of player that could be an instant spark.

As a Niner fan I hated Sherman when he was in Seattle, love him now, but have always thought him to be a smart, insightful guy. No reason to lobby for the Niners to sign him, been down that road and it puts you in an awkward position with the QB's already on the roster and I couldn't say Kape is better than either of them at this point, especially since he hasn't been on the field in two years.
His last season stats with the Niners look decent on paper but this was a 2 - 10 season, in which Chip Kelly was coach, Gabbert started the first four games, got injured, and from there on out every game was pretty much garbage time stats. Kaep was great when defenses didn't know what to do about him, which was that quarter of a season after taking over for Smith, Super Bowl run, then the following season, when they lose to SEA in the NFC conference championship. Once defenses figured him out and Harbaugh was fired it was over for him really.
I think it's easy, popular and in most cases right for folks to sh-t on WAS but so what if they don't want to tailor their playbook to Kaep, that's their prerogative. At this point with all the rust I couldn't say Kaep would be a better option than McCoy, Sanchez or Johnson. The argument that BAL did it with Lamar Jackson so WAS should be able to do it carries no weight as Jackson was drafted to be their QB of the future, therefore they probably had some plays in the playbook ready for him if/when Flacco went down, had to be pulled.
I really wish people would stop talking about Kaep in the media. Stop trying to make fetch happen :/

The truth about guys like Kaepernick and Tebow is if they were still good enough to win in the NFL, they'd be playing. The NFL always has a shortage of good QBs so the good ones are worth the headache.

I just can not understand why when a QB spot is opened up Kaepernick, a guy that stunk like 5 years ago now and has not stepped onto a field since, would be even the slightest bit competent to QB an NFL team today! He is no good, you would think if he was he would of got picked up by the CFL or AFL even, his NFL career is gone and not coming back!

If anything, the Hunt situation has shown that the NFL and Team owners will turn a blind eye to troubled players if their performance out ways the bad on the field.

None of that explains why Sherman didn’t, or doesn’t, lobby for Kaep to join HIS team? I mean if Kaep is so worthy, and clearly the Niners are not good at QB, why doesn’t he worry about his own backyard instead of crying for headlines by throwing another team under the bus.
Yes Sherman is a smart guy, which makes me scratch my head when he says dumb things like this.

I've never considered Sherman to be that smart, smart people know what a powder keg this situation is and keep their mouths closed.

Garrett was educated at Princeton, going to a big school doesn't guarantee intelligence. I will say, Sherman was a great shutdown corner for awhile, not anymore though.

Umm pretty sure I already said the Niners are fine, as in don't need another QB. Mullens and Beathard are perfectly serviceable backups. As good, maybe even better, than a guy who hasn't been on the field in two years. Also, as previously stated, you want to stand by the guys on your roster already and, again, not lobby for someone who, again, hasn't been on the field in two years.
Beyond all of that, Niners have been down the Kaep road, parted ways. Why go back to that shallow well?

ESPN has a complete breakdown of Kareem Hunt’s early morning escapades on Feb 10. Is the legal drinking age lower than 21 in Ohio? I was just wondering how the girl involved, Abby Ottinger, a 19yr old college student at Kent State, was allowed in clubs and inebriated? Was she ever administered a breathalyzer test?
Of course none of this excuses Hunt’s actions but 100% goes a long way to bringing her character to light.
