Sure it’s voluntary, I get that. But after what he pulled last season, he should’ve been the first person there.
If the Jets wanted Bell to show up for voluntary camp they should have put huge bonuses in his contract that only got paid if he attended a certain amount of offseason workouts. Bell does what he wants and it's not a surprise he's choosing not to attend voluntary workouts.

Have teams put that in contracts? I thought that was off limits due to the CBA?
I would’ve been amazed if either of them showed up for their respective teams camp. Way to early to pass judgement on the leopard/spots debate, but this certainly doesn’t help.

The fact that Rosen hasn't been traded yet may indicate they aren't 100% sold on Murray.
Kiper was on the espn daily wager yesterday & changed it to 95%.

Been talked about that nfl doesnt want them to trade rosen before draft cause then we all know murray is the #1 pick & that kills the drama for the draft on tv a lesson they learned yrs ago that its a big no no.

My fav draft bet is qbs drafted 1st rd:
over 3.5 -250
Bet $200 to win $80 seems a very good bet.
Basically every mock ive seen has 4+.
Just probably have to sweat to end of rd to hit though.

Plenty of players skip voluntary workouts, it's a non-issue except to those who want something to point to and critique.

It's an effing problem when the league gets THAT involved in the draft. People are gonna watch regardless, but to try and shape the drama and intrigue in the weeks/days leading up to it is just straight controlling behavior.

Hell, Detroit had already signed Stafford before the draft. It is what it is.

Yeah, workout bonuses that only get paid out if players attend a minimum number of voluntary practices are fairly common. Usage varies by team. The Packers, for instance, have at least $100,000 in workout bonuses for their top 14 highest-paid players in 2019, including $500,000 bonuses for Aaron Rodgers and Davante Adams, $750,000 for Za'Darius Smith, and $650,000 for Preston Smith. The only player on the Jets with a workout bonus is Kelechi Osmele at $350,000.

Another tactic used by some teams is de-escalator clauses. With de-escalator clauses a players salary for the next year drops if they don't show up for offseason workouts. The Cowboys use this tactic a lot and most of their highest-paid players have $500,000 de-escalator clauses in their contract.

Yep... myself, I'd prefer all players show up to their teams as it only helps the whole team. Chemistry, new coaches, new plays, etc. Guys like OBJ are new to the team. But it's voluntary, nothing can be done about it.

I guess I always thought those bonuses applied to the non-voluntary activities.
One would think if you signed a massive deal you would want to get off on the right foot and immediately start building team chemistry, but some folks don’t see it that way.

The fact that Rosen hasn't been traded yet may indicate they aren't 100% sold on Murray yet because it makes little sense to keep Rosen if they take Murray #1 and they should want to get assets for Rosen now rather than 2020 draft picks. I still think Murray is the pick but it doesn't seem like the slam dunk it seemed to be a week ago.
I'm pretty sure it's all smoke and mirrors. They're taking Murray #1 and Rosen will be dealt on draft day.
