Thats not a bad hire tho for them

Cowboys hired ex-Packers coach Mike McCarthy as head coach.

Dallas dragged its feet on firing Jason Garrett, waiting until Sunday afternoon to announce his dismissal as head coach. The Cowboys also checked in with ex-Bengals coach Marvin Lewis, though obviously McCarthy made a strong impression during his interview last week. Prior to joining Dallas, McCarthy had also interviewed for head-coaching vacancies in Carolina, Cleveland and New York. The Packers were a perennial contender under McCarthy, who rode Aaron Rodgers to a Super Bowl victory in 2010. He's not the flashiest candidate the Cowboys could have chosen, though obviously the 56-year-old's experience and Super Bowl pedigree made him a relatively safe hire.

Considering how they were kicking the tires of Marv Lewis it could of been much worse imo Dallas fans.

I didn't understand why DK Metcalf went so late (late 2nd round) in the draft. The guy is has great size, is built like a tank (just check out his shirtless combine pic... those abs are insane and he made everyone else in the photo look small by comparison), and his combine performance was largely outstanding, if somewhat lacking in a couple areas. He was the 9th WR taken in the draft. Now everyone is regretting passing on him.

Make no mistake McCarthy is an upgrade over Jason Garrett.

He has the measurable you simply cant teach like speed and size. I know I was screaming for the Patriots to double up on wr and draft him round two, instead they picked Joejuan Williams who amounted to nothing.

This article explains why DK fell:

https://bleacherreport.com/articles/...ting-to-happen

Some players are very system dependent. Seattle knows how to use DK and he has Wilson throwing to him. If you place him with another QB and another team, would he still be as impressive? Look at the Saints and Hill. Saints knew how to use him and in certain situations but would he have done as well if he was still with Green Bay.

Brady wouldn't be able to get it to him deep anyway. Metcalf better with a QB like Wilson or Rodgers.

I remember the second night of the draft last year Matt Miller from Bleacher Report said that some teams had told him there was a fear of PED use.

He should've been at least a late first rounder with those measurables. No way all the way down to 9th receiver taken.

One win does not change what I said to be true. I get the narrative is that Cousins is now the hero of men, but he can revert right back to crap next week.

Or he can continue to be the hero of men. Like Brian once said to me, always look on the bright side of life.

If the cowboys fail to make any progress is it on McCarthy? Can't blame Garrett anymore.

Well we can't expect instant results, Garrett's reign of terror began in 2007. Going to take at least 1 season and probably 1+ drafts to start changing the makeup of the team. Definitely need to work out what this means for Cooper, Jones, Awuzie and Dak too.
