I'm a Rams fan and even I think this NFL Now interview with LA Times columnist Bill Plaschke is absurd:

True they do but look at the team Marino lost to. Those 49ers teams were no joke they were the Patriots of the 2000's in 1985.

My point still remains if you list all the all time QB Marino sits there with all the greats and you would say the same thing I would take Marino any day to run my team for 15 years even with no Super Bowl because he was that good. He also played in the era of the running back and put up all those passing records. The QB era did not start until Brady, Breese, Manning, and Rivers came around.

Twitter rumors say Niners may be looking to land Cousins from MIN. Please god no. I remember when Shanahan first came here that was the thinking once he left WAS but the Niners landed Jimmy before that was a possibility. As underwhelmed with Jimmy as I have been, I would rather stick it out with him that Kirk.

I agree. But if the 49ers do keep Jimmy this year, they need to be aggressive in the draft and try to land one of the QB’s. They haven’t drafted a QB in the first round since Alex Smith. They have to take a chance at some point, can’t keep relying on free agents/trades to bail them out.

Just out of curiosity, if by some mysterious circumstance there was a real chance to trade for Aaron Rodgers, do you think they should? You’re the only other 49er fan that posts in here regularly, I was just wondering what your thoughts are on the idea.

Yes I think they pull the trigger on that trade. The run game works no matter who you plug in. Deebo and Aiyuk are a solid 1 and 2, with Bourne being a really good WR3. If Kittle can stay healthy he's the top overall TE in the game. So offensively they are just that key position upgrade away from being back in the Super Bowl. And the defense is stacked up front, only question marks are in the secondary. This would be the best team, situation for Rodgers to join if he were to leave GB.
Aside from growing up a Niner fan, I am a Cal football fan, went to lots of games back in the early 00's. I was hoping the Niners would draft him. Over the years I got tired of hearing the same "chip on his shoulder" story about the Niners passing him over. I think by this point he is over it and I think he would want to finish out his career, in contention, with the team he grew up loving.
That said, I think its a longshot. Jimmy isn't bad but I have seen enough of him to know that he's not the missing piece, that guy. If they can't land Rodgers or even Watson, they should stand pat with Jimmy and avoid Cousins.

Why hes right Stafford was not a great Quarterback in Detroit, Most of his yards and TD came in Garbage time and his record against teams with a winning record is something like 8 and 72. Lets also not forget he has never won a playoff game, even Eric Kramer did that in Detroit. Stop dabbing the guys balls on your chin Stafford was overpaid and not good here. The only reason he has said passing yards is because of no run game.
