The Jaguars have signed former Browns defensive end/linebacker Matt Roth to a one year, $3 million deal. Roth worked out for the Patriots but they grew upset with Roth when he demanded more money once they started negotiating and decided not to sign him.

Im about to call them again as I just found out the company i work for gets a corporate discount on DTV, entire bill 20/mo with NFL sunday ticket. 3 Months of showtime etc.

I would do that except....FIOS is not in Carroll County. Currently they have no plans to expand up there and they are now on strike so no knew installs anyways.

Jared Gaither is a Chief! Hopefully he won't have back problems because he's an instant improvement over both our current starting OTs. And, if he plays well throughout the season, I wouldn't mind him receiving an extension, given that he's only 25.

The only channels in 1080p are some of the pay-per-view movie channels....no regular channels.

Yes they will....just read all the posts on dbstalk.com of current subs getting $200 off & some even getting it for free.

These are general rules to help in getting it:
1.) Call 1-800-DIRECTV during the day. Don’t call at night since they do have one outsourced call center and you don’t want that.
2.) When asked why you are calling at the first automated prompt, say “CANCEL SERVICE.” You’ll be asked by the automated prompt if you want to cancel some programming or your entire service, say again “CANCEL SERVICE.” All this does is direct your call to a Retention Department Customer Service Rep (CSR). You want Retention CSR’s only because they hand out credits and freebies like candy.
3.) Doing this connects you to the retention CSR. They won’t say “retention,” and likewise, you should never say anything about cancelling your service to a live person.
4.) For me, if I draw a male CSR, I usually hang up and start over since I find the female retention CSR’s are the best in terms of deals/credits. Some people find this extreme though and it’s not technically necessary.
5.) When you speak to them, be very friendly and naïve. If they offer you a great deal at some point, you should sound like you are blown away, not expecting it.
6.) Mention that you saw the deal that NFL ST is now included if you get the premier pkg and you want it. 99.99% chance they will respond that it is a new customer offer only, but if in the slight chance they let you get that, take it. It’s too good of a deal to pass up.
7.) Ask them something to the effect of “Money is tight this year, what can you do for me?” At this point they should make you an offer for NFL ST for this season. Anything from free all the way down to $10/month off for 6-12 months. If the deal offered is free or $250 one-time credit, take it and run. If not, proceed with next steps.
8.) If you get anything else that you don’t like, mention that you have some friends you know of who are getting a one-time $250 credit. This is 100% true, I have seen people’s account statements with this credit. Ideally that should get you the $250 credit or maybe something on the order of $200. You may also get other discounts or freebies that you can consider.
9.) If the deal at that point is awesome, confirm the deal with them and take it.
10.) If the deal is not that great, just tell them you need to think about what you are going to do this year for football and end the call.
11.) Start back at step 1 again if you passed on the deal from the first call. The offers will vary based on which CSR you get, what kind of mood they are in, and how much they like you, etc. Being friendly is key. Sometimes it takes several calls. Usually the best bet is try again the next day, although if it is closer to the beginning of the season, trying again in an hour or so is okay too.
12.) For future calls, you can say the same thing you have said before OR simply talk about how expensive it is, but you (or your wife) really wants it.

I didn't realize so many of you guys don't have NFL Network, I was under the impression virtually all Cable/Satellite companies carried it. Makes me feel lucky to have Verizon Fios.

The main 4 without are time warner, cablevision, brighthouse, mediacom....charter will have it by week 1.

There are about 116 million households in the USA & NFLN is in 60 million.
ESPN is in 100 million.

From all the complaining going on I would have thought it was in a lot less than 60 million households. Thanks for the statistics.

I'd like it, but I wouldn't want to pay an extra dime for it.

back problems are the least of your problems. He seemed to not like football. Kinda a randy moss thing. He was awesome when he wanted to be.

Thankfully comcast never really had a issue with the nfl network, the introduction of red zone has basically kept me from switching to dish and the nfl ticket. For those that spend 200 bucks on that package dont because the red zone channel is more then enough to get your sunday fix imo.

Hell i sometimes find myself watching it over my local team as the presentation they have is top notch and action is non stop from 1pm to 7pm, you will miss not a single score or major point of a game. No need to have to flip around 8 channels and the most important part is it cost about 35 bucks total for the entire season compared to 200.

Do you only have basic cable? If so that is why, you will need to step it up to the digital or premium package i believe which should include the NFL network. And the red zone is now on what the NFL network was which is their sports tier package which is a additional 7 bucks or so a month and like i said worth twice that amount when compared to what dish charges for the ticket.

Either way I know Goodell was supposed to be working on it but I dont expect it to be resolved any time soon.
also, cablevision for example, wants the NFL package which of course Directv will never let go..lol..

I got fios and happy to have nfl network and redzone channel.
