FAVRE TO THE COLTS!!!!!!!

That would be the funniest thing in a long time.
Favre is hobbling around right now, not in game shape and probably hasn't even practiced on his own at all. He'd be a much worse option than Kerry and would probably get killed in that division with all those nice pass rushers.

From what I read Farve can bairly walk, he needs surgery again to repair that ankle, that last season did him no favors if anything may have injured him permanently. Farve is done...

ESPN has renewed it's contract with the NFL for Monday Night Football through 2021. The new deal will pay the NFL $1.8 billion per year, a 63% increase over the current deal that expires in 2014. ESPN (or ABC) still won't the Super Bowl, but they may get a wild-card playoff game at some point, they get the right to more highlights, and can stream the game online.

I dunno about that. If anything I'd call the NFL a national stimulus package for the economy. For the masses of unemployed th NFL is the only thing keeping their life tolerable. Just look at what the Saints did for New Orleans.

I don't care too much because that isn't the amount they'll net from the deal when you factor in taxes, costs exc.

It's a big win, but its only a win BECAUSE we watch. Just like when two of the crappier teams played last October on MNF and WHIPPED playoff baseball in the ratings lmao. Thats why they can up the offer so much.

Hey,

I can't decide if I'll tune in to football tonight but it's tempting me.

I'm trying to ignore if for so many reasons because it's such a trivial waste of time and the cash flow statistics that I read about do disturb me.

The biggest reason I wish I could forget football is I get drawn into the soap opera aspects of it. I really don't care too much about who wins but I love to see certain teams lose. The owners like Rex Ryan think it's ok to be both a public figure and a total ass. That's messed up.

Actually i'm a heck of a lot more sickened by the absolute resentment displayed by far to many people these days towards anything or anyone that happens to be successful!

Yes the opening game of the NFL Season is @ the Pakers.

I know a lot of people on here may not like the Colts, but with Manning out for "awhile" (in Irsay words on twitter) it'll be a very interesting weeks/months for the Colts as a whole w/o #18.

Since 2004 it's been in the TV contract that the opening Thursday night game will feature the defending Super Bowl champion at home. Defending Super Bowl champions are 7-0 in Thursday night opening games.

This thread is shaping up to be Thread #1 for the Grammar Nazi thread found elsewhere on this site...

Anyway, go Pack go. So excited for the year to kick off tonight, even more excited it involves the Packers, and even more excited that the game's not on NFL Network (which I feared it was).

That's just wrong. The resentment is mainly towards those who are rich and unproductive. I don't know anyone who resents Warren Buffett or Bill Gates for the money they have. People resent Paris Hilton types. Plenty of rich people are trust fund babies who never worked a day in their life. And many people still call those people "job creators." Money does not equal success.

The resentment towards NFL players is minimal to non-existant over their pay. NFL players give up a LOT for their fat paychecks - namely their long-term health. Humans were never meant to take the kind of punishment NFL players do.

The Dolphins re-signed running back Larry Johnson after Daniel Thomas tweaked his hamstring yesterday at practice. Johnson was with the Dolphins during training camp but was released during the final cutdowns.
