Report: Raiders’ G.M. search begins

Further confirming the fact that Mark Davis will own, but not run, the Raiders, Albert Breer of NFL.com reported Tuesday that the team has commenced the process of looking for a General Manager. The model, as Breer explains it, would operate like the situation in Pittsburgh, where coach Mike Tomlin and G.M. (as of this season) Kevin Colbert work in concert.

Breer also reports that a football consultant could be hired to help the team through the balance of the 2011 campaign.

Raiders CEO Amy Trask separately said that she is not ready to talk publicly about the possibility of hiring a G.M. or a director of football operations, according to the San Francisco Chronicle.

Great news for Raider Nation! We've needed a gm for a while now and thankfully new owner Mark Davis is not a hands on owner like his father AL ... The Raiders are headed in the right direction!

How would drafting lots of receivers in the 1st round be any different from how Al was doing it for years?

Darrius Heyward-Bey was an Al favourite, I think it would be a fitting tribute to him if the guy started to pan out now that the man responsible for making him a first round pick has moved on.

The Cowboys Stadium took over 3 1/2 years to build. They started site construction in January 2006 and the stadium was completed in July 2009.

Until they get rid of Kubiak they won't go far. They have all the talent (barring this years injuries) to make it deep into the playoffs. Kubiak is holding them back IMO. And i like the Texans a hell of a lot more than the cowboys.

We don't have talent??? We have pro-bowlers besides Andre and Mario. This talent needs to step up though and get us through when we are missing players.

The Falcons have ruled out Julio Jones (hamstring) for Week 6 against the Panthers.
ESPN's John Clayton previously reported that the hamstring injury would only be a one-week situation, but the Falcons' decision to rule out Jones so quickly may not bode well. Atlanta visits Detroit in Week 7, before a Week 8 bye. If the muscle strain is severe, it's conceivable that the medical staff would target a two-game absence and use the off week to make sure Jones is 100 percent. Jones ranks 28th among fantasy receivers through five games. Harry Douglas will replace him against Carolina.

He has tons of talent, maybe a change of scenery is all he needs?

Yea it seemed liked its contingent on a new stadium.

I doubt they would go to rose bowl/coliseum cause they dont have all the facilities & importantly the luxury boxes that a super bowl now needs.

Kinda why san diego & miami are now currently out of the super bowl rotation.

Your right, hopefully a change of scenery will help, plus we need all the help on defense we can get right now... low risk high reward type of move, guess we'll see how it plays out....

Both San Diego and Miami were told they need to make major improvements before they'd be considered for another Super Bowl. That isn't going to happen in San Diego but Miami is going to unveil plans for a major stadium renovation soon and will likely be considered for the 2016 or 2017 Super Bowl. If Minnesota gets a new stadium with a retractable roof they'll probably get a Super Bowl since the NFL has been rewarding teams that build stadiums with a Super Bowl.

If I were you guys with the crowd coming in and Bush as a decent backup id honestly see what you can get for some of your better players especially Mcfadden, I would literally try to get massive draft picks for 2013 and 2014

Im talking like 2x or 3x 1st round 5-7 2nd round etc
