Eagles defense is on a monster roll right now, 13 sacks, 3 picks, 4 fumble recoveries, a safety, and a defensive score in their last 2 games and they dominated Dallas earlier in the season should the Cowboys be worried ![]() Seahawks defense is also dominating, I think they'll spoil the 49ers chances at the #2 seed in their last 3 games, they've got 9 sacks, 9 picks ![]() |

Side note, why is NFL.com so bad at their standings week after week? The Ravens beat the Steelers twice and they still put the Steelers above them. Even by their own tie breaking procedures the Ravens are #1 in AFC North. The Ravens are the only team in the AFC undefeated at home this year. That has to be a first. The Pats and Indy are usually the ones with that honor. |

The Steelers lost to the 49ers? What the hell? I know the 49ers are a good team this year but whats goin on? This was a strange week in the NFL. Teams that should have won lost, what a wild ride it has been. As for the Pats? They will win the last 2 games at home and be the number 1 seed and the Cowboys will win a close one against Philly. Just my prediction anyway.

Just curious why total yardage is the stat that is used when ranking defenses? The Patriots have given up more yards than anyone but they are tied for 14th (with the Packers) in points allowed, which I consider a lot better stat for determining how good a defense actually is. It's not surprising that the Patriots would be last in yards allowed (and the Packers 2nd worst) because they often have large leads so teams are throwing on them constantly to try and get back into the game so they rack up a lot of garbage yards. I'm not really defending the Pats defense because they are terrible and lack a pass rush and decent secondary, but I just think points are a better indicator that yards.

To me the best indicators of the quality of a defense are turn-overs forced, 3rd down percentage and points allowed. Yards are a nice indicator but really don't tell the whole story. Mark Anderson is a pass rusher and little else, that injury is going to have a ripple effect on the entire Patriots defense.

So if the giants win the eagles/cowboys game is totally meaningless to the cowboys cause it would come down to week 17....i wonder if they would rest people.
