That's not an excuse for poor defense. When Brady was torching everybody in 2007 (first in yards and points), the defense was ranked 4th in both yards and points allowed. Sixth in passing yards allowed.

The Saints/Packers/Patriots play with a Big 12 mindset, and the Niners/Ravens/Texans play with an SEC mindset.

(Too bad the Texans have Stephen Garcia for a QB though)

That defense also had an offense that had a TOP of 32:17 which is amazing. And if you look at this years pats team their TOP is only 28:47

Sure is but look at the Packers who gave up more yards than gained this year despite a solid TOP of 30:29.

Total offensive yards: 6482
Total yards opponent: 6585

At least the Saints:

31:58 TOP

Offensive yards: 7474
Opponents: 5895

An extra 690 yards given up by the Packers in only 24 more minutes.

It was, and by no means is it an anomaly, but take the two teams this year with 32 TOP's they are the Steelers and Texans who both are 1 &2 on defense.

Actually the Packers might be they were #23 for Time on the field, where the Pats were 9th.

Defense wins, in the end. I can see both divisional championship games going either way. I'd rather see 49ers/Ravens in the Super Bowl than any other combo, though.

Maybe we should say Brees chokes while we're at it. Same deal, no defense, 5-4 record. Forget the three straight 400 yard postseason games which is two records. Total 400 yard games and consecutive 400 yard games.
I would die a happy man if I could convince the world that wins and losses are _not_ a QB statistic.

Big Ben can play awful and win because of how amazing the Steelers defense is. Meanwhile, Rodgers can play insanely well and lose (thinking the game against the Cards a couple years back where Kurt Warner just went off when Rodgers had a 121.3 QB rating).

This year's championship matchups feature polar opposites when it comes to defense, with the 49ers 4th ranked defense against the Giants 21st ranked defense, and the Ravens 3rd ranked defense against the Patriots 31st ranked defense.
That colts teams was also 32nd against the run when they won.

How many of those teams had top 10 offenses ?

Obviously I'm biased because I'm a Patriots fan, but I don't want to see a 49ers/Ravens Super Bowl just because we'll be inundated for 2 weeks about the Harbuagh Bowl if that happens.

I honestly can't see it happening unless Brady just falls on his face. The Ravens defense is sensational but the Patriots have the best remaining offense and in this situation I think they will light it up.

Only 4 of the last 9 Super Bowl winners have had a top 10 offense. The 2008 Steelers were 22nd in total offense, the 2007 Giants were 16th, the 2005 Steelers were 15th, the 2003 Patriots were 17th, and the 2002 Buccaneers were 24th.

I'm not a fan of any of the teams left. The Pats did amuse me with how they embarrassed Tim Tebow and the Broncos, though. Tom Brady punting the ball and the Broncos being so offended they started shoving Pats players made me laugh for about 5 minutes straight.

It's better than Tebow coverage. That stuff better stop now that his team is on the outside looking in.

CBS is trying to get Tebow to join their studio show as a guest analyst on Sunday. They've contacted his people and should have an answer within the next couple days.

I have nothing against the kid, but he needs to like push a kid down or something soon so this whole "Baby Jesus" thing goes away. "Separation of Church and State" should also be amended to "Separation of Church and Sports".

If it was Cam Newton it would be more forgivable, that kid's a beast. Tebow is usually around 50% completion for under 200 yards. He needs to switch to RB or TE.

It almost seems like an act at this point, in his post game interview, Tebow almost had bit of a smirk on his face when he thanked his lord & savior after his team just got their ass handed to them! lol

I also have nothing against him either, just wish he kept his beliefs to himself

Of the teams still left: OFF / DEF Rank

New England 2 -- 31
Baltimore 15 -- 3

NY Giants 8 -- 27
San Francisco 26 -- 4

So yea definite contrast.

I guess cause of the running but the ravens offense isnt as low as i thought.
