I agree.. But if Harbaugh thinks he can help improve Smith even more, then I think he deserves some leeway on that.

Tebowmania would consume the entire state of FLORIDA, let alone Jacksonville. But how long will the honeymoon last if Tebow cant produce? I understand why Jacksonville was immediately brought up by the media in to the Tebow talks, but I find it hard to believe that there is much, serious in-house consideration going on in Jacksonville.

I've always felt like Colston was a product of the Saints offense. He has little speed/separation skills. He has good size, a huge catch radius, and is a legitimate red zone target, but I don't feel like that skill set is worth the kind of money he seems to be asking for. Vincent Jackson is the only true #1 receiver on the market this year. Unless the Redskins are comfortable with what they have(I wouldn't be) or they have plans to get a #1 next offseason, I would go after Jackson pretty hard. I've seen the Bucs connected with Mario Manningham all offseason, so it might not even take much to get the Bucs out of the Jackson race as they fall back and sign Manningham.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports the NFL is taking away millions in salary-cap space from the Cowboys and Redskins for illegal front-loading of deals during the 2010 uncapped year.
The Cowboys will lose $10 million compared to the Redskins' whopping $36 million hit. Dallas was reportedly $4.7 million under the $120.6 million cap while Washington was in better shape at $31.3 million under. The franchises have the option of splitting the damage over 2012 and 2013, but it's still going to have a deleterious effect on the Cowboys' speculated interest in major free agents such as LG Carl Nicks, DE/OLB Mario Williams, and CB Cortland Finnegan and the Redskins' pursuit of Vincent Jackson.
Well that's interesting.

Adam Schefter is reporting Redskins are going to lose 36 million in cap space because of front loading contracts in the uncapped year... Thankfully they can split it up... Very limited selection now.

Doesn't the team salary floor kick in this season? I'm fairly sure Tampa is required to finally start spending. They've been at the bottom in team salary for years now.

Hopefully this gives the Ravens a better chance to resign Ben Grubbs. The only teams I had heard interested in signing a high priced guard were the Bears and Cowboys. Assuming the Cowboys are out of it, the Bears could sign Carl Nicks, leaving Grubbs with (hopefully)not many other options and a cheaper return to Baltimore.

Just read that Jason Brown was released by the Rams. He was considered one of the best centers in the league when he signed a deal that made him the highest paid center at the time in 2009. He's been a bust with the Rams and was eventually benched last season.

Losing 36% of the cap is a killer (Cowboys losing 10 million!), Not sure how this happened. But this is for sure a game changer.

You know how poorly the Redskins are run with Snyder as owner. Why would you be at all surprised?

The rule requiring teams to spend at least 89% of the salary cap doesn't go into effect until 2013.

I don't get why they're getting hurt (unless they were playing games, with the cap then they should be punished), but if they were simply taking advantage of the rules in place, and now the new rules void and punish those, thats very unfair.

LOL@ my talk radio "get wr's get wr's!", won't matter if RG3 is running for his life or gets hurt.

I mean 36 million in fines is one thing, but 36 million in a cap hit! Thats like the punishment you should get for having spies in teams meeting rooms! The more I hear there was no rule on the books when these cap moves took place!

The league told all teams going into the uncapped year that if they frontloaded contracts to take advantage of the lack of a salary cap then they would get punished so the teams knew beforehand that they couldn't give huge cap numbers in the uncapped year. I know the Cowboys violated the rule by giving Miles Austin a $17 million cap number in 2010 but haven't heard who the Redskins violated the rule with.

The cap space taken away from the Redskins and Cowboys will be given to the rest of the league, so each team gets an extra $1.6 million in cap space with the exception of the Raiders and Saints, who don't get any extra cap space but don't lose any either.

It may be related to fatty, and D. Hall. At least those are the names that keep coming up here

If the league told them then this is on Jerry Jones, and Bruce Allen 110%.

OJ Atogwe just got dumped saved I think 3.6 million in cap space absolute disaster...

I don't think there could be more collusion against the cowboys and redskins.

Harbaugh and Manning would NOT be a good pairing. Harbaugh likes being in charge of his offense.

No wonder the Giants keep emerging out of the NFC East each year. The other teams in the division keep doing stupid stuff like this.

Per a source with knowledge of the situation, the teams were told “at least six times” during ownership-level meetings that there would be “serious consequences” for any team that used the uncapped year as an occasion to dump salaries.

The Cowboys and Redskins engaged in “systematic dumping” of salaries into the uncapped year, despite the warnings.

For the Raiders, the dumping of salary in 2010 arose specifically from the dumping of JaMarcus Russell from the roster.
Ahaha... Raiders are STILL paying for JaMarcus. They just can't get rid of that guy.
