Just heard on ESPN Radio that the 49ers signed Randy Moss to a 1 year deal.

Braylon Edwards and now Randy Moss? San Francisco is desperate to find a cheap deep threat for their mediocre QB, I guess.

Yeah, I find it odd. Isn't Alex Smith known for having a weak arm? I have a bad feeling about this. He should have gone somewhere else.

It hurts the 49ers so it works for me. Moss is a quitter, he doesn't do the little things either, I think this will actually be detrimental to that team, I can't see Moss finishing the season as a 49er though.

Or they could just get rid of the mediocre Alex Smith and bring in Peyton. Of course that would depend on Harbaugh getting over his ego and letting a good QB run the offense. Good luck winning a Super Bowl with Alex Smith.

You also have to consider if Peyton wants to play with Randy Moss. I've heard he isn't thrilled about the idea of playing with Brandon Marshall, so you have to imagine he would have worse feelings about Moss.

I feel like Moss wants to go out on a good note and prove to people that he can still play. I wish him the best, but I feel like he is going to get frustrated with Alex Smith not being able to get him the deep ball.

I'm pretty sure that's not a deal breaker. If it took getting rid of Moss to land Peyton Moss would be cut in a heartbeat. Not sure what the problem is with Marshall. Does Peyton have a problem with good receivers or something?

Marshall has borderline personality disorder and has a reputation for being "high maintenance". I think his problems are the same as Moss and are mostly related to bad quarterback play frustrating them. I don't think he would have issues with Manning, but who knows? Peyton might just not want to take a chance on Marshall being a headache when he can have a guy like Larry Fitzgerald in Arizona.

All the buzz is here in Jacksonville is a possible Tebow coming back home. Not sure if that's going to be a reality, but as much as I dislike the guy. We can use him to fill up an empty stadium. Our franchise has been plagued throughout the years when we failed to pick up big names whether it's from free agency, or picking up the right draft pick. Our city needs a big spark right now because MJD won't be doing this forever.

I think signing Moss was a great move by the 49ers because it's low risk, high reward. I haven't seen any contract numbers but I'm assuming the deal has very little guaranteed money and a low base salary and is full of incentives, so if Moss misbehaves or isn't productive the 49ers should be able to cut him with little financial loss. From the sounds of it Moss is in great shape and if he can even be a shell of what he was from 2007-2009 then he will greatly help the 49ers.

If by deep, you mean a 35-40 yard post pattern, then noodle arm Smith, is the right QB for Moss.

Atta Boy Benny. Packer fans must never forget the endzone mooning at Lambeau..."DISGUSTING" (remember Joe Buck's idiotic call). It's impossible for you to ever like Moss, and that's the beauty of the Packers/Vikes rivalry.

He will because Smith can't...it won't take long to manifest itself as an issue.

He's a self-righteous, malcontent whose superlative talent wasn't enough to keep in Denver. They couldn't wait to see him leave. His me-me-me attitude and continued whining (hissy fits) are certainly not becoming of an NFL player but rather a spoiled rotten brat no one wants around.

How come the Colts didn't trade Peyton and try and get something in return?

AFAIK can't trade until free agency and they owed him the $28 million last week or had to cut him.

Speaking on ESPN's Mike and Mike in the Morning Tuesday, Adam Schefter said he doesn't see the Dolphins as a "viable contender" for free agent Peyton Manning.
Schefter believes Manning's Monday meeting with the team was a "courtesy visit," and that they won't be able to match what the Broncos, Cardinals and Titans "bring to the table."
What's up with Schefter? What's his problem with the Dolphins? A courtesy visit? I don't think Manning would have waisted 6 hours of his precious time just to say hello. I know Schefter is well connected, but it appears to me that Manning doesn't leak anything and Schefter makes stuff up. He said on Sunday Manning would not meet any other teams, yet the Dolphins and Titans got a meeting with him, and maybe the Texans as well. Schefter said the reporters chasing Manning in Miami was a major turn-off, yet the same thing happened in Denver and Arizona.

This is correct. Trades can't occur until 4:00 Eastern time today when free agency starts and if Manning was still on the Colts roster at 4:00 last Friday he would have been due a $28 million roster bonus.

I don't think Chris Mortenson or Peter Gammons, for example, are morons. Do you really believe they are?

Mort & Gammons are well informed and articulate. They most certainly are not morons.

Gammons hasn't worked for ESPN since 2009. He works for MLB Network now.
