I think it's time to bring excitement back in Jacksonville. I'm trying not to give in to Tebow mania, but I'm sick of losing, and sick of the management not taking chances on big name players. Maurice Jones-Drew can't carry the load year after year, and I'm not so confident with Mr. Gabbert.
Tebow would set your team back another 5 years, Elway was dumping him this offseason Peyton or not because the guy cant throw he has the accuracy of a 5 year old and the mechanics of a Parkinson patient. Tebow has 1 defining quality his teammates respond well to him that's it.

He wouldn't set our team back 5 years. I know he's not a true QB, but if we sign him. He's going to have to compete with Gabbert and Henne for the starting job. I think the #1 reason why we would get him is to fill up that stadium. If he ends up starting, and then struggles. I can see Gabbert taking over, and will use Tebow in the Wildcat with MJD. Though, I think Gabbert will start, but Tebow will be a big part of the running game since that's what we do 60% of the time.

I think it would be better to sign him on the cheap, (maybe a 4th or 5th round pick) than not sign him and piss fans off even more. Gabbert hasn't shown any sign of being a franchise QB yet, Henne IS NOT a franchise QB, and that's all you got. Might as well sign Tebow now for cheap and see if he can become something. If any QB was destined to run a wildcat offense if would be Tebow. He's more of a RB or TE than QB anyways. This way he can line up anywhere and still be somewhat useful, either as a runner, pass-catcher, or distraction.

Having MJD and 2 good TE's (maybe a WR that can also QB) would help the offense run a lot of gimmicks and get wins.

Three things will get fans in the seats:
A championship (maybe down the road)
Crazy games.
Tebow.

I really don't get the Tebow to the Jets rumor. Could there possibly be a team with a culture more polar opposite of Tebow than the Jets? And not just the team but the city of NY too seems like a culture clash.

I was talking w/my buddy last night about the rumors of the Packers possibly trading for Tebow. While we are both on the fence about it, my buddy wouldn’t have a problem w/it if he was used as a 3rd string QB but mainly be the guy that needs to get those 3rd & 1’s that we can never seem to get.

If ol’ Teddy gave up a 5th rd pick for him, I’d go for it I guess, but nothing more than that.

Question

How come some great college quarterbacks' games do not alway translate into the NFL very well? Sometimes they become great with time but sometimes their game never gets as good as some people believed? I mean how different is it really? Sorry if this is a rather basic question, I am just a casual fan.

The game is much faster, defenses are much smarter, and offensive schemes are more in depth in the NFL vs. college.

It's just a different game. The NFL is MUCH faster and harder hitting than college football. Even compared to SEC football, which really is the highest level of the college game doesn't compare to the NFL. In the college game good QB's like Tebow can literally just run over defenders. Try doing that against a defense like Baltimore and Ray Lewis and Co. will have you carted off the field.

Look at the list of past Heisman and you'll see what I mean. Some Heisman winners don't even make the NFL since they are a product of a particular system that does not translate well to the NFL.

Basically everyone in college football isn't totally "developed" yet. Defenders in the NFL are full-size, fast, and way harder hitters.

___________
How about this...
In the history of the NFL who are some of the best quarterbacks to make due with a not so good offensive line?
And on the other hand, who are some of the worst quarterbacks in NFL history that did very well, pretty much mostly because they were working with a world class offensive line?

NFL suspends Saints coach Payton for one year without pay

NFL.com
Published: March 21, 2012 at 12:51 p.m.

The NFL announced Wednesday that New Orleans Saints coach Sean Payton will be suspended for one season without pay for his involvement in the team's bounty program. Saints general manager Mickey Loomis has been suspended for eight games. Former defensive coordinator Gregg Williams has been suspended indefinitely.

The NFL revealed March 2 the findings of a lengthy investigation into a Saints "bounty" program that gave thousands of dollars in payoffs to players for hits that knocked opponents out of games. The program, administered by then-defensive coordinator Gregg Williams, reached its height in 2009, the season the Saints won the Super Bowl.

The program ran in violation of league rules, and the investigation showed that Saints players received $1,500 for a "knockout" hit and $1,000 for a "cart-off" hit, with payouts doubling or tripling during the team's three playoff appearances.

The NFL Players Association formally requested that the league not punish the 22 to 27 players it cited in the scandal until the union had completed its independent investigation, which is underway, an NFLPA source told NFL.com's Steve Wyche.

The league initially did not respond to the union's request. The NFL told the NFLPA last Thursday, according to SI.com, that it was free to question any current or former Saints officials about the matter, but that it would not delay announcing its own decisions.

"We have given your requests careful consideration, and have concluded that there is no basis for delaying the imposition of any discipline in this matter, and particularly not as it may apply to a club or any non-player employee of a club," NFL attorney Jeff Pash wrote in the letter to union general counsel Richard Berthelsen on Wednesday. "Any disciplinary action affecting any player would be imposed only in a manner consistent with our Collective Bargaining Agreement. As you know, the sole authority to investigate and impose discipline in this matter rests with the Commissioner."

Williams, now defensive coordinator of the Rams, has admitted to and apologized for running the program.

Saints head coach Sean Payton and general manager Mickey Loomis also were implicated in the scandal, and they released a statement March 6 in which they took full responsibility for the violations.

"We acknowledge that the violations disclosed by the NFL during their investigation of our club happened under our watch. We take full responsibility. This has brought undue hardship on (owner Tom) Benson, who had nothing to do with this activity. He has been nothing but supportive and for that we both apologize to him.

"These are serious violations and we understand the negative impact it has had on our game. Both of us have made it clear within our organization that this will never happen again, and make that same promise to the NFL and most importantly to all of our fans."

OMFG there's a megaton bomb I wasn't expecting! One of the best coaches in the game with a full year suspension. Amazing. This seems far more devestating for NO than just losing draft picks.

Incredible, but warranted. I'm most amazed that they suspended the GM for 8 games.

To ME it's just Tebow doesn't possess the instincts and mechanics to be a consistent NFL QB, he is a heck of an athlete though, he'd probably make a great H-back or tight end. Sorry Mark Sanchez!
